Fabric and Lighting drapes for tent- seeking advice for tecnique

Erin, on October 4, 2011 at 1:26 PM Posted in Style and Décor 1 5

My wedding is this Sunday, my tent arrives tomorrow. I have all the lights. I have all the fabric (sheer crystal organza). I just need to know if anyone has done this and any tips and tricks you might have.

Looking for a similar effect as below, using icicle lights.

thank you!

You need to make sure your tent has rigging point or if they don't they need to be installed. I would SERIOUSLY consider hiring a professional do the the rigging and draping. I attended a wedding a few years ago and while we were doing the linen setup the wedding planner was trying to do the rigging and hanging herself. Long story short she ended up pulling half the tent down and sent herself and 3 other people to the emergency room and she ended up getting sued.

For the safety of your guest hire a professional. Also check with the tent company because many wont allow you do the the draping and rigging yourself as its a violation of their insurance policy.

It's not as easy as it looks.

I don't know if I would attempt to DIY fabric/lighting draping. Definitely go with a pro.

Hire someone. Seriously; this is not something you want to do yourself. If you can even accomplish it, it's going to take you four times as long as you think.....like, you should be doing it now. And don't plan on sleeping.

For all the doubters- managed to get it up myself, Looked AMAZING- happy to share pointers if anyone else is planning something similar. Wasnt hard, probably about 5 hours total for 10 fabric drapes and 6 lighted. would have been faster with two ladders!

    It is possible!

Erin, I too am looking for advice on lighting and draping my wedding tent. I'm looking for advice on how to plug the lights in so that there aren't cords going everywhere. Is there some technique you used? I'm looking for the style in the picture below.
