Fabric between the pews

Crystal, on April 13, 2018 at 9:20 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 10
I purchased fabric to drape down the pews of the church aisle along with hydrangea field Pew cones. This would make it impossible for guests to walk down the center aisle and therefore the ushers would have to leave them to the outer Aisles. I feel like it will make the aisle more special and it will give my decorating it an edge up. MIL says that it restricts the guests too much and they should be allowed to walk down the center aisle. FH currently has no opinion so I need help

It's not uncommon. You can find pictures on Pinterest to show your FMIL.

If the pews aren't very long, I wouldn't have a problem entering from the side. If the pews are long, however, I hate sidestepping from the outer aisle to the middle aisle. The space between the pews is never wide enough to walk normal!

I think unless they are terrible disabled it should matter if they have to take a few extra steps to make YOUR day the way you dreamed it. Don't allow her to hyjak YOUR day. It should be your vision of how you want it to be. Kindly thank her for pointing it out and tell her you disagree and leave it at that.

I did this with garlands. I didn't want anyone besides the wedding party walking down the aisle.

I think it’d be fine assuming that if you did have guests with mobility issues an exception would be made.

I’ve seen people literally block off the aisle all together lol. and I completely support it. Idk why guests HAVE to be able to walk on the aisle. I’m not sure if I’m doing it yet because my outdoor ceremony decor is pretty minimal but it hasn’t been ruled out.

This is a quick throw together of what I am trying to do. I want the tulle to be a little thicker, but you get the general idea. I showed this mock-up to FH and he says that he likes it so my future mother-in-law is just going to have to bite the bullet on this one and get over it!

I like how you did yours. It's very simple minimalistic but it makes a statement.
I don't want to share my special aisle with anyone! And being that I have a full glitter aisle Runner as well as flower Peddler borders that we are creating it is all stuff that I need to be able to lay out the night before. She insists that the aisle Runner has to wait until just before the bridal party comes down to be rolled out. But with all the elements that I'm adding to my Isle that is just unrealistic. I want the church to be ready when we arrive. It seems like she disagrees with a lot of things that we are trying to accomplish but I think they are just so used to having a simple ceremony and then a party at a fire hall that they are having trouble getting on board with us trying to do something a little more fancy for lack of a better word
