Face shield or face mask

What are you ladies planning on using? On a regular day I would use a face mask but with makeup getting messed up, Im considering a face shield. Would you feel safe with wearing a face shield only? Or do you think guests will mind?

Our wedding isn’t until October. So I’ll make those decisions closer to that date (because I might wear neither by then). But if I had to choose between the two, definitely a mask. When I see the face shields, I always think of astronauts👩🏽‍🚀

Lol yes! I posted a picture of a face mask that Im considering and makes me think of a robot! Im planning to use it for my baby shower in 2 weeks. I will see how it looks. My face is so oily, all my makeup will be all over a mask.

I wore neither at any part of the day. I just can't see how that would work with a bridal look...and I paid $175 for my makeup.

Gotcha! Even for the reception we won't be wearing them as the venue is not requiring the wedding party to be masked except for when we're moving through the facility for the entire event. (The venue is an athletic club, in their garden area in the back. Facial coverings will be required when going through the building to get to the garden and when using the restrooms.) For what your plan is, I'd still probably go with a mask personally. For picture purposes, I feel like masks look better than face shields and you don't have the possibility of glare off the shield either. However, I feel like guests generally wouldn't mind if the bride and groom aren't masked. That's definitely a bit of a know your crowd thing though. I know they wouldn't in my case, but I also know my case doesn't apply to everyone.

My wedding is in November of this year and I am not planning to wear a mask at all that day, nor am I going to force anyone to wear one. Our venue does not have any covid rules it is all up to us. But hopefully even by October when your wedding is most people will be vaccinated and I would really leave it up to your guests.

I would go with a face mask over a face shield. Face shields don't provide as much protection and I just think they look more hazmat-y. If you need to wear it anytime you aren't at your table, eating, and drinking, I honestly wouldn't worry too much about it messing up your makeup because the parts that are going to get smudged are going to be hidden by the mask itself. You can also use a real good setting spray and have some touch up products with you if needed.

Just something to think about here: I'd practice taking a few photos with the face shield. You most definitely don't want any glare!

I didn't wear one for my minimony and I also won't be wearing one for our big wedding.

My wedding is Feb 2022 so I am hopping that neither will be required by then. If I had to pick, a facemask offers much better protection. I would choose a darker outer color so it is not visible if my makeup transfers onto the inside of my mask.

My preference would be to get vaccinated (if it's your thing) and not wear anything. I'm fully vaccinated, but my FH hasn't had his vaccine. I'm hopeful that by the time our wedding comes around it won't be a thing anymore (3.19.22). I would make the decision based on your audience. If you have guests that are very cautious, I bet they would appreciate a mask more as the CDC doesn't recommend face shields (since germs go out the sides). If most are vaccinated, I wouldn't wear either.

Mask mandate will be lifting (and hopefully staying lifted) in our state. Also we are getting married outdoors and have both been vaccinated, so I am not planning on wearing one unless the current trajectory changes. That said I did get matching masks for my bridesmaids to have as an option. I am also getting myself a pretty one to have as a backup and for traveling afterwards to the honeymoon.
