How many of you announced your engagement over Facebook? Let's see how you announced! Here's what I did (the tassel is included because I was graduating with my masters in the same weekend I was proposed to)

We called our moms at the same time. put them on speaker, told them, and let them be excited together while being about 1000 miles apart.

The next morning, I changed my profile picture to us with the ring!

He proposed two days before my birthday so I took the time to alert all our VIPs and then on my birthday posted a picture and said "thank you for the birthday wishes, I have a feeling 26 is going to be the best year yet. FH and I are engaged"

I posted a picture from that night with a caption. Never received anything from anyone regarding where their invite was/is.

He put one of a really bad pic of me and said he proposed to his love and she said yes. I posted this after the necessary people were informed. Thus far we have not gotten any harassment out of anyone who wasnt already invited.

We posted a pic of us together with my ring a month after he proposed (so we were able to directly speak with all our VIPs first). Since then, we haven't mentioned it on social media once and I don't plan to until we get a few wedding pictures back - I may share those.

No one had asked us for an invite yet.

We changed our relationship status once all close family and friends had been told directly, then we put up a picture of us maybe a week later. We are private and don't feel the need to share every detail with our FB friends! We have beautiful pictures from that day, but why does such a personal moment need to go public? Not for us!

Updated the "life event" tab, and within the first hour had a couple of "can't wait for the wedding, it's gonna be so fun!" from coworkers I hadn't seen in a while. Also had someone actually send me their address (I have NO intention of inviting them, we haven't seen/spoken to each other in years) for my convenience. My jaw dropped. I never acknowledged receiving that message. Must be lost in cyber space somewhere. Smiley smile

I posted a picture. Only had 1 person assume they were invited and that's my cousin who lives in Alaska. If she wants to make the trip to Nj I'm ok with it

FH took a picture with his DSLR and posted "the ring finally arrived" on Facebook. We didn't have what people consider a normal proposal so this was our way of announcing it Smiley smile he was very proud of his choice in ring and his camera.

We waited a couple of weeks because I had a close friend who was getting married that month and I didn't want to step on any toes. We posted this photo. No one has asked for an invite. This is the only thing I've posted on social media.

We posted a picture of the proposal from afar about 2 weeks after we got engaged. I didn't do a ring pic.

We still haven't posted about it and might not until after the wedding.

I already am getting bugged enough from people without adding it on fb.

I changed my relationship status, but I didn't make any other changes.

I will likely do a stealth change to married so that I don't get people whining about not being invited.

The only thing we announced change my martial status to engaged. I don't like posting about the wedding to social media, especially a photo of my ring. I would rather people see it in person. There's literally nothing wedding related on my Facebook except for that and an engagement photo as my default photo.
