Facebook Live Copyrighted Music?

Caitlin, on April 8, 2021 at 5:56 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 6
Hello! I want to stream my wedding on Facebook Live (Coordinators said this was a better option than Zoom). I’ve read message boards about the ceremony being taken down due to copyright of the ceremony music. Do you know if this would actually happen?

Yes, they do have the option to remove your video if it contains a copyrighted song. More often, they simply remove the sound.

Yes I would be careful with that, as fb will silent the video if it detects the copyrighted music. Maybe try the zoom like on a test run bases and see how that works.

I've had so many random videos taken down or silenced for copyrighted music on facebook. even when the music is just in the background. Personally, it would make me way too nervous to rely on facebook to stream the wedding

I'm curious as to why your coordinators suggested Facebook Live over Zoom. I hate Facebook and Zoom seems better suited for viewing by a wide range of guests, not just those with Facebook accounts. Zoom is super intuitive and user friendly and has ample privacy controls.

So it's a bit of a different platform .. and you have to pay. But I just wanted to throw it out there ... we used EventLive. It streams, but the guests aren't on video, watching only. You basically send everyone a link. Our wedding was affected by covid and only a few people out of 200 could actually attend. I had almost everyone else show up for the stream and no one had any trouble. EventLive keeps a copy of the video and a virtual guestbook, both you can download, for a year. I know not everyone wants to spend the $50 understandably, but I had the same streaming/copyright worries you did, so I thought I'd throw it out there. Oh, and we just had a good friend download the app on their phone and that's how it was streamed.
