Facial Eczema and Wedding Makeup..help

CountryRoads, on May 31, 2018 at 7:39 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 10

Does any have eczema flareups on the face and ridiculously sensitive skin? If so, how did you find products for, or figure out how to do your wedding makeup? This trial and error through product sampling and subsequent break-out followed by 2-3 weeks of letting skin heal before trying again is getting old!! Not to mention the dealing with this on a daily basis as a result is not enjoyable. I am also not having much luck working with a dermatologist, so is it worth going back to the dreaded allergist Smiley atonished ?? Are there RX medications allergist use that might work better? Also, how have your mitigated the worry that the week of the wedding you will have a flare up?

Ok by no means is this medical advise but I have suffered from flareups of acne and eczema on my face. I found making sure my face is properly hydrated all the time is key. During a flare up I use Aquafor ointment and try not to wear makeup (I dont leave the house if I dont have to). I have also heard great things about cerava(?).

I would make sure to have multiple makeup trials and make sure you talk to your MUA. I told mine and she made sure to use some of the most gentle products.

Good luck and remember stress can lead to outbreaks so try to breath and stay calm!

I have it all the time. The only thing I found that works for me is seroiusly hydrocortisone 1%. Put it on at night and in am. But I wear no makeup on a daily basis or hair products or perfume! I'm allergic to everything!! I have a flare up right now and freaking out I have 8 days left!!

I have really bad eczema, since a teen on my hands, sometimes also on my face. Creams stopped working so my dermatologist put me in some expensive new injection for eczema. It worked but I could no longer afford the co pay. I’ve honestly been using vitamin e oil because the steroid creams don’t work, and the vitamin e oil actually helps surprisingly. I’m hoping and praying I can keep up with the eczema. I have to take engagement photos Thursday with a really bad flare up on my hands. It sucks. And I get what you’re going through. Ask your dermatologist about dupixent injection. If I could still afford it I’d still be on it.

My daughter had really bad eczema on her face and other body parts and no matter what creams we used to would keep coming back. It wasn't until we cut out milk that we saw it disappear. It's usually a sign of an allergic reaction so I would start with the allergist and try hypoallergenic makeup if you haven't already

Have you talked to a dermatologist about makeup suggestions? I know they aren't helping with the breakouts, but maybe they know of less damaging makeup? I'd stick with the most organic brands you can, if you google organic or natural makeup, lots of reviews and suggestions come up. Maybe read through them and see what you think?

I have ezcema too and when I get flare ups I try to take daily Zyrtec or Allegra (antihistamines) to decrease the allergic response and then I'll use a thin and even layer of a topical steroid called triamcinolone (stronger than over the counter hydrocortisone) for up to 2 weeks since over use of topical steroids can thin your skin and cause white spots. Ultimately, what helped the most on a regular basis was finding out what I was allergic to and removing myself as much as possible from the allergen. I am allergic to everything lol but founds out I was extrememly allergic to dust and after we got rid of all the carpet in the house it helped my ezcema tremendously! Hope this info helps!

Thank you for the feedback. I think you are right, and I should start reading makeup ingredients myself. The dermatologist has been Minimally helpful, but gave RX antihistamine which helped. LOL but HE is less than indifferent about the make up situation. He actually suggested doing a skin biopsy on my face during a flare up, and was quite dismissive about my concerns that I am getting married in four months. Not that he thinks it is cancer, he just wants to biopsy to confirm the eczema that I have had since I was a toddler....Smiley angry
