Fairy faerie fae

Littlefoot, on January 14, 2014 at 4:17 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 12

Hello everyone! I really want a lot of forest faerie elements in my wedding. If you've seen the movie Epic (or even the trailer), I want it to look kind if like that! I was wondering, is anyone else planning a wedding like that? I can give more details if you want. While everyone wants to be a princess, I want to be more like a forest faerie (along with traditional elements) xD

Could you share what kind of resources you have and companies or websites you've found that help your vision be realized? TIA!

    Pinterest will be your friend!

etsy for unique touches, offbeatbride for real wedding inspiration, and maybe flickr for photography inspiration?

Iʻd have a real strong vision of my wedding before buying anything cuz it is pretty unique Smiley smile

@almostmrsking thanks! I actually have a few wedding boards with HUNDreds of pins haha. I think I need to make a couple new boards and transfer some pins because there are so many. Although, not all the pins take me where I can buy what I'm pinning. That's why I'm asking for resources.

I've heard of offbeatbride, I've been meaning to go there Smiley smile. I love etsy too! But I need help finding the right sellers since the site is so huge. And I've never been to flickr, thanks!

I am right there with you. I am not the princess type! My FH and I love the nature and woods.

We are getting married in the Harmonie State Park (southern indiana). Check your local parks, they are usually cheap and provide all the nature you want. We are allowed to bring extra plants to add to the area Smiley smile We found a cove that is surrounded by trees and they drape over the cove making our own arch. Since we are having a fall wedding we are adding lots of pumpkins, corn husks, bales of hay, to add to the atmosphere. Check Pinterest and always keep your eyes open for clearance at crafts stores. There are tons of foliage, ivy, and other ways to enhance the nature feel for the wedding! good luck Smiley smile Ask if you have questions or want to swap ideas.

I am doing a fairy tale theme. Is that kinda what your thinking? We are doing it at a cabin in the woods. We are using a lot of tulle and white christmas lights. Our reception is entirely lit by candlelights and we are keeping it fairly simple.

When I was reading this over I thought of this...my potential make up artist just did a wedding and posted this about it: http://www.agardenpartyllc.com/2014/01/14/south-jersey-wedding-florist-emily-brian-at-running-deer-golf-club-featuring-bride-diaries/

There wedding was music theme but check out their aisle with tulips giving the effect like they were growing out of it!

I agree with Holly to check out your parks. I love nature but unfortunately nature doesn't love me. Unless I'm hopped up on extra allergy meds, I couldn't do a park wedding!

@holly sweet! Your wedding sounds beautiful!! Great idea to bring plants, I didn't think of that. I'd love to swap more details! When I get the chance, I'll write out some of my ideas.

@futuremrsaxtell well I wouldn't describe my wedding as "fairy tale" because that suggests Disney princess. However, we also want to get married at a log cabin venue!!!!! Smiley laugh I love tulle and I want candles and white Christmas lights everywhere! I'll have to post some pics of my lighting ideas, and I'd love to see yours!

@kochbride wow thanks for the link, I love that aisle!! So sorry you have allergies :/ I don't know what I'd do!

There was a Four Weddings Episode that had a fairy theme, it's probably on TLC.com; and I think it's OnDemand right now if you're looking for ideas. I think it aired recently. I'll admit I was kind of skeptical when I first read the description, but the bride who did it pulled it off beautifully.

I am doing a midsummer night's dream theme based on the 1999 movie, and fairies are implied.

    Pinterest: http://www.pinterest.com/jmelissap/vineyard-wedding

Ignore the vineyard pics-we almost did it in a vineyard.

We are doing the ceremony in a woodsy outdoor worship area outside a church with permanent rustic wooden benches and cross. I'm thinking of doing fairy lights down the aisle that have these dried purple flowers on them.

    http://www.amazon.com/Purple-Leaf-String-Lights-9-foot/dp/B00993B14S/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=2R125MKBQ8W6T&coliid=I10K4C4JMW1IE2

If we have a ringbearer, I'm having him bring the flowers in a mossy nest. I'm doing a lot of moss. I am vaguely imagining myself and FH as Titania and Oberon. I have a huge tulle skirted dress in champagne with black applique, and big curly hair with lots of leaf inspired gold jewelry in my hair. FH in an old timey tux with tails. Bouquets are mostly foliage and tiny wildflowers...

Reception venue is a historic ballroom that's had a few fires-deconstructed and grand. Nature themed centerpieces with moss covered logs and hard cover books with fairie lights under the moss. Then on top of that, 3 vases of differing heights filled with water, river rocks, more greenery and wildflowers, and floating candles. My bridesmaid dresses are short, one shouldered chiffon, and look very grecian (like the fairies in the movie). But it's mostly implied really. There are other aspects that aren't fairie related- shakespeare quote, skeleton keys, and tandem bikes, etc.

Not really any vendors-It just came out of my head.

@kris oh awesome, thanks!! I'll look for that!

@blondie wow, you almost exactly described what I want!! I haven't really known what to call my theme - it's definitely a midsummer night's dream theme!!!! I want moss everywhere, grapevine balls and fairy "lanterns", leaf- and wood-inspired jewelry, wildflowers, wood slabs, faux bois (fake wood, such as wood grain cuffs for the men), purple and yellow and green and browns and tans, etc. I want to get married in a really woodsy area with a natural-looking arch, and I was thinking about using a mossy nest for the rings! I'm even going to use skeleton keys as the escort cards and favors!!! Thanks for the extra inspiration!!

I haven't seen the movie in years though, so I think I'm gonna do that now! The only thing that might be a little out of place is I LOVE sunflowers. Gotta have 'em Smiley smile

Sounds like fun to me :-) I think purple yellow and green would be cute! Makes me think of this board: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/147070744054578695/

If you have any questions of where I got stuff, let me know, but like I said, it mostly came from my head. And feel free to pin all the stuff from my board you want, obviously.

Oh, I got my skeleton keys from this vendor but I got uniform keys that were all bottle openers. he doesn't seem to have them up at the moment, but maybe will put them back up?
