Fairy tale wedding during summer?

Courtney, on June 2, 2022 at 7:50 AM Posted in Planning 1 6

I just got engaged a week and a half ago at Disney World, because that is our favorite place in the world. I wanted to have a fairy tale wedding but I also wanted my wedding during labor day weekend which is during summer. I want it during labor day weekend because most of both of our families are out of state and I want it to be convenient for them to travel. Is it tacky to have a fairy tale wedding during summer?

I would be more concerned with prices during labor day weekend. If you are getting married in a popular tourist area, prices skyrocket or there wont be a lot of availability for guest lodging.

But to your actual question. There's nothing wrong with having a fairy tale wedding in summer.

One thing to note about a holiday weekend, especially if a majority of guests are traveling from out of state, plane tickets are higher for holidays. My sister had her wedding during memorial day weekend 2021 and for the three of us to travel it was almost $1500. and that was just plane tickets and that was before gas prices and plane tickets skyrocketed this year.

Ok this helps a lot and is making me rethink that weekend. I definitely do not want people paying more for flights. Thank you!!

You can absolutely have a fairytale wedding in the summer. In addition to the points above about holiday weekend prices, I'd add to make sure you have room blocks arranged ahead of time because hotels fill up fast. I'd also say to consider the weather in the area you're planning to have the wedding because a lot of places get more rain in the summer. It's not as much of a concern if the whole event is indoors, but if you're planning to be outdoors at all, that could be an issue.

What does "fairy tale wedding" mean in this context? Does that mean getting married at Disney World? I agree that having it Labor Day weekend may make travel more difficult for your guests, not less. The weekend before the 4th of July may be difficult too. There are many other dates you could choose that don't fall on holidays.
