Fake bridesmaid bouquets with real boutonnieres/corsages?

Brianna, on June 13, 2019 at 10:08 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 9

I've decided to use fake flowers for all of my floral arrangements and my bridesmaids bouquets but I'm debating whether I want to continue using the fake flowers for the boutonnieres and corsages. Would it look funny if some of the florals are real and some are not (my bouquet will be real)? I'm just thinking maybe the fake flowers wouldn't look good as boutonnieres/corsages, especially if I try to make them myself lol I still have lots of time my wedding is next year but I'm trying to figure out if I'll need to get more artificial flowers or just get those arrangements from a florist.

I'm having a hard time imagining real mixed with fake. I think it'd be hard to match the flowers. BUT that's not saying it can't be done. I'd personally have to see them to see if they go well together.

We did real flowers for bouquets, corsages, etc. And fake for decor. You can always do babies breath and 1-3 Rose's for bridesmaids to keep cost down! I think itll be very obvious in pictures if your bouquet and the corsages are real but bridesmaids bouquets are fake.

    Bouquet example
Fake bridesmaid bouquets with real boutonnieres/corsages? 1

Hi Danielle, so this is the picture I sent to a florist as an example to get a quote for my bouquet. The bridesmaids bouquets and the rest of the arrangements will have this same color scheme and similar style with the eucalyptus. I would like the boutonnieres to have a white rose and eucalyptus leaves, and the corsages to have a couple of roses with these colors with eucalyptus.

I think you can do it but to be honest I'd recommend that if you're doing real for boutonnieres then you should do real for bouquet too.

To be honest, fake flowers aren't always cheaper than real. Even after seeing your picture, I'm still having a hard time imagining your bouquet real and your bridesmaid's fake. Then having bout's and corsages real too......then that just leaves your bridesmaid's fake. It's throwing me off, lol, sorry. I'm doing the same as one of the PP's mentioned. I am having all real bouquets, bout's, and corsages...but I'm not having the florist do reception decor. Actually, we are ordering a bulk order of the flowers used by the florist for us to use in our decor (ex. we can fill our own vases, etc.). Much cheaper than having the florist make centerpieces. I know prices vary in different regions, and also depends on what flowers you use, but this is what we are getting for $875: large cascading bridal bouquet, 6 bridesmaids bouquets (MOH's being slightly larger), 4 corsages, 12 boutonnieres, 2 arch arrangements, and flower girl petals. In addition, we plan to spend $50 - $100 on bulk flowers for our reception decor (that way it all matches).

I would do all of the decor in one type and all of the personal flowers in one type. I think it would be too difficult to make the bouquets and bouts match if they're mixed between real and artificial. Artificial flowers that look like the same quality as your real ones are probably going to be more costly than real anyway.

There is no problem with having bouquets of flowers carried by bridesmaids fake, while groomsmen have real. The only time bouquets are carried with BM and gm side by side is when people see them at a distance in a procession, or in pictures. In real life at cocktails and the reception, when you are standing talking to a GM, with fresh flowers, BM will have ditched her bouquet. . . For costs, you might consider costs. Florists charge $18-35 or more for a single bout! So if you have a bunch to buy, you may want to pay $60 to $90 for an order of $50-100 stems of the fresh flowers, and $20 or so more for greens, tapes and pins. So 110-130 for real for 6-9 bouts if fathers, gm, and maybe grandfather's wear them, if they cost $35 apiece in your area, you save a little. But have 40-90 of the flowers left if you want to make small bouquets of a single kind of flowers for mothers and grandmother's who do not like corsages on wrists, or damaging fronts of silky dress materials where they are pinned. . . But doing bouts this way, you have the work of putting them together at the last minute. . . So price fake bout stuff, and real from florists. You may choose making bouts of fake flowers after all, because it is easily done a month before the wedding. And will cost closer to $3 apiece, not $35. Tradeoffs are who does the work, can it be done way in advance, and overall cost.
