Fake Eyelashes - to wear or not to wear?

Anne, on September 20, 2016 at 12:25 PM

I know everyone says fake eyelashes make such a big difference but I have a feeling I will find them uncomfortable... do you think my eyelashes will make enough of an impact in photos? This is with a couple coats of mascara.

You have plenty of timeto try them out and see what you think. Most mua's use the little individual clusters which look super natural and are not uncomfortable. To be honest your lashes in the photo are long, but look super clumpy and unnatural. The false lashes would have a much fuller, softer natural look than that.

@COBride - good point about no mascara running issues... that would be pretty beneficial

Can somebody post a picture of when they had fake eyelashes that looked more natural? Every time I see someone post a picture with them on it looks a bit too pageant-y for my non-makeup using self, but I am really not familiar so it might just be that I need to find some non strip ones or something.

You should get fake lashes! It'll make them fuller which is what you would want for photos. At first they can be annoying but honestly with everything going on you won't even remember you have them on.

Try on some falsies, see how you feel. The cheaper lashes that are synthetic tend to feel a bit heavier. I highly recommend House of Lashes. Their siren lashes are natural/wispy looking and are light.

Thanks @Juli - I will have to buy some of those to try. So they are made of real lashes/hair? I didn't realize there was anything other than synthetic.

I think these may be synthetic but they're super light and not plastic-Y like some other brands. These were about $7. They sell human hair lashes (it will say on the package) But if you're super eager now, head over to target and check out Ardell accents, they only go on the outer portion of your eye, and eyelure lashes. My coworker swears by them and they look very natural. Also don't forget the glue! There are 2 different types, one for strip lashes (photo I posted above) and one for individual lashes (where you can kind of customize yourself). Your lashes are lovely by the way! Mine are so weenie xD Hope you have fun!

Great!!!! I believe they also do have a water proof glue. Which would be a great help for all those happy tears on your wedding day, if you decide you like falsies Smiley laugh

I wore fake eyelashes for the first time this past weekend (sister's wedding) and I have to say, I LOVED them. I thought I would hate them since I hardly wear make up, but they weren't bad at all! They were so weird at first but after about an hour, I forgot they were there! Plus, they looked amazing in pictures. I was very pleasantly surprised.

I think your stylus should be able to work with your real lashes if you are going for a more natural look. My FH doesn't like all that makeup either but I'm doing it anyway. HaHa!

I would do it, if for nothing else besides the pictures! It will definitely come through & they won't look very fake in pictures, but it will definitely enhance your overall look. Here's one of mine day of. I used the Sephora brand lashes and they looked great in all of my pictures!

ETA: I know it's not a close up picture, but I think that was kind of the point I was trying to make- they look like dark, normal eyelashes from a regular distance which wouldn't have been picked up without fake eyelashes. When you take a close up picture of your eyes of course you can see mascara, but for most pictures you are farther away so that's why I liked the falsies!

Just do individual lash extensions. They are less heavy than a strip of fake lashes

Highly recommended the individual lashes applied by a pro vs the strips of lashes! They're much more comfortable and don't look as fake as the strips sometimes can. They're usually a bit more expensive, but worth it!

Lash extensions are great. But you have to go to the right place. If put on correctly you won't feel them. And they last for like 2 weeks so you have then for your honeymoon and will still look smokin even in the ocean!

If those are your real eyelashes yes, you can go without fakes. And I'm jealous. Maybe add in some cluster lashes to make them fuller? You have plenty of time to practice! Cluster lashes go on your skin, not your lashes, as they are too heavy for them. There are tutorials on youtube.

Yes for lashes! You get used to them in like an hour and then don't notice them after that.

Just my opinion, but the lashes in your picture are a tad too dramatic. More full lashes that aren't so long would be more natural . Mine were like Shanna's in the pic above. (You look great Shanna!!!)
