Fake flowers?

Makayla, on August 26, 2019 at 12:31 AM Posted in Style and Décor 2 56
What are your thoughts on having fake flowers at a wedding? Obviously not the cheap dollar store flowers, more like hobby lobby price range. I just don’t think I can get behind spending so much money on flowers just to have them die. Whether is be for center pieces or bouquets... I just don’t know if that “trashy” or “tacky”.

My brother and sister in law used all silk flowers and you couldn’t even tell. I plan on also using silk flowers. I think if you get the nice ones then it’s fine. (Plus you can save them or sell them after!)

Nothing wrong with that! I will warn you that you won’t always save money though. I bought some fake flowers from hobby lobby for one of my DIY projects, still $8/bunch. I could get fresh flowers from my grocery store or from an online bulk flower site for the same price. Good looking fakes aren’t that cheap, however fake flowers are incredibly useful for decorating your hall! No worries about dying flowers or anything, you can also get that coveted out of season flower much easier with fakes.

I have used all fake flowers. The only real flowers will be my bouquet. I have 0 regret. My sister in law spent around 5,000-6,000 just on flowers.

I think as long as you get good fake flowers, it's totally fine. I love fresh flowers, but we ultimately decided to go with crepe paper flowers because I wanted a DIY project and it saved money. High quality fake flowers might not be cheaper than grocery store or bulk flowers, but I don't think that's a truly fair comparison since fake flowers would give you tons of time to make your arrangements and play around with what you want to do, while bulk fresh flowers would have to be arranged the night before.

I am using lings moment faux roses and gardenias with eucalyptus from Amazon and hobby lobby. I'm going to accent with some dried fillers from hobby lobby/AC Moore. Everything I've ordered so far looks great and I'm excited to make the bouquets and boutonnieres. Here's a mock up of my centerpieces. I'll only be using roses, but these were the flowers I had on hand from my sample order to pick what flowers I liked best in burgundy.

Hobby lobby has sales constantly, so just be on the lookout. I got my sweetheart table garland for half off.

I'm using sola wood bouquets and I think they're just as pretty as real flowers. They actually ran my cheaper than if I were to have bought real ones. Plus you're able to order them in advance and get them shipped right to your house.

We had real flowers for the bouquets and just didn't have flowers on the table. I couldn't bring myself to do fake flowers. I love the look of real sunflowers and to me fake sunflowers just never look right.

Silk flowers are great. I used silk for the bouquets and for our decor pieces in our reception area, and then centerpieces used real freeze dried rose petals and eucalyptus leaves. It looked fantastic and was great to have flowers done early on and not worry that they’d arrive the day of looking wrong.

One of my bridesmaids literally yelled at me after I told her I won't budge on my real flowers. I feel like fake flowers look like what you pay for... cheap is cheap! I don't want to save my flowers forever (I'm a big fan of not keeping junk) and I don't really want to have to worry about selling my leftovers. Maybe I'm being a bit of a bridezilla, but I'm passionate on this matter.

Mine are all real touch fake flowers. Our colors are purples, grays with accents of white and sparkly silver. I ordered a cascading bridal bouquet, 3 BM bouquets, 4 corsages and 4 bouts $400 with shipping. The lady hand made them all and they look amazing! I think if you find the right flowers or the right person to make them they will look amazing!

I bought all of the flowers for my wedding on Amazon (my bouquet, bridesmaid bouquets, boutonnieres and corsages) all for less than $200. I do plan on buying a few more for decor, but I don't plan on using flowers for centerpieces on each table. I just couldn't see (or justify) delegating over $1,000 of our budget to flowers that will just end up dying Smiley atonished

Fake flowers are totally acceptable to use! They're not only a great way to save money overall for the wedding but they also actually LAST. We decided to save on that area and use fake ourselves, actually spent all Saturday (60 days prior to our wedding, so it's done and out of the way) putting together our centerpieces, bridesmaid and flower girl bouquets.

    Hey!
I'm a floral designer, and I'm doing my own flowers in silk.
For me, real flowers would be way too stressful, because I can't make them too far in advance.

Nice silk, can be pricey, but worth it for me in the long run.
For ease of mind and setting up in advance, it's worth every penny.

With the silks available these days, it's hard to tell the difference and they will be nice keepsakes❤

I was considering ordering fake as well, but I realized those flowers would end up in the trash eventually too so I figured no point in adding waste that will just sit in a land fill. So I found an online flower wholesale. Bloomsbythebox.com.
You can order what you need in bulk for great prices and they deliver a day or 2 before your event. If you’re up to some DIY and not looking for anything too elaborate I would try it

All of my flowers are fake. I couldn't afford real ones though I would have loved to have them for the scent alone. I ended up getting all my flowers on Amazon for under 70. I don't think it's trashy or tacky at all. Here are mine, minus my groom's because I keep forgetting to get a picture.

I had fake ones for the bridal party bouquets and wedding party corsages/boutonnieres I got off Michael's and eBay. They look fine.

No harm whatsoever in this just make sure to shop around to get the savings you want. I am doing all fake flowers for mine, but I am making them out of cardboard/crepe/anything that will look cool.

I'm doing all fake flowers, I bought them all at Hobby Lobby when they have 50% off and Michael's.
