Fake flowers?

What are your thoughts on having fake flowers at a wedding? Obviously not the cheap dollar store flowers, more like hobby lobby price range. I just don’t think I can get behind spending so much money on flowers just to have them die. Whether is be for center pieces or bouquets... I just don’t know...

We did all silk flowers from Hobby Lobby, and it was one of the best decisions I made. We had them put together weeks ahead of time, and spent less than $300 on everything. I also kept all of the bouquets and they're now on display in my house. They're typically 50% off every other week, so definitely wait until they go on sale if you do go to Hobby Lobby.

I'm probably going to go with artificial flowers for my wedding. I'm looking at buying made to order bouquets and boutonnieres on Etsy, and ordering some materials to make centerpieces myself (small arrangements in mason jars with fairy lights and ribbon accents). I mostly want to be able to order everything well ahead of time & have it all ready to go so I'm not cramming to get things done at the last minute.

We are using real flowers for center pieces and bouqets. However decided to get faux eucalyptus garlands on amazon. $9 for 6ft. VS $10/foot the florists was going to charge me.

I just bought all my flowers at Michaels. It was awesome. I only spent $300 total on flowers, mom chipped in $150 too so all around we spent less than $500 and I am sure that we wont be able to tell the difference on the day! Plus we can easily get rid of them after or repurpose them.

I really wanted real flowers because I would have fake ones collecting dust in storage. I'm getting my flowers through my local Kroger's floral department. It's much cheaper than a traditional florist for basically the same products!

We are having "cheap dollar store" flowers for all our centerpieces and think they look great.

I plan on renting mine from somethingborrowedblooms.com. That way I won't have to worry about buying and arranging them myself. They also have tons of options to choose from in terms of color and arrangement type.

I think this is a pretty common practice now. All my centerpieces are a mix between fake flowers from hobby lobby and sola wood flowers and all my bouquets, corsages, and boutonnieres are sola wood flowers. I couldn't get behind the price of the real flowers for the same reason as you and by no means do I think any of my flowers look trashy or tacky. I think I like them more than real flowers in my personal opinion and I was really able to achieve my color scheme doing fake flowers.

If you're a bridezilla then I am too. Fake flowers are awful in my opinion. The only fake flowers I think look semi ok and the sola flowers.

I only purchased faux flowers that “spoke to me”.

    1. It’s only one day.
    2. You can’t control other people’s allergies.
    3. You can’t control how and when your live flowers will arrive.
    4. You can’t fix dead or wilted flowers.
    5. What can you do with real ones after your event?

I like them. My best friend had fake flowers for her wedding so we could save the bouquets, but my FMIL is a wedding decorator and she puts together bouquets for a living so all of her children's weddings get real flowers. It's her gift to us. Smiley smile Otherwise, I would use fake flowers.

I don't think there is anything wrong with fake flowers. If you do want real flowers but don't want to pay florist prices, you can try somewhere like sams club or costco.

No girl, we didn’t want to pay our wallet out with a professional florist. We decided to do decorations & flowers on our own. We have used hobby lobby! It was the best decision we have made. Sooo much cheaper!!!

We're doing fake flowers for all of the bouquets and then centerpieces are live plants (like, actually planted plants). For me it was partially about the money but also not wanting to have to worry about being allergic to any of the bouquets.

I'm using fake flowers because I refuse to blow my budget on real flowers. We aren't using flowers for centerpieces at the reception (using lanterns and fall leaves), so only using flowers for floral crowns, bouquets and boutonnieres.

I’m using silk flowers as centerpieces. I am starting with these bunches. Purchased at Michael’s buy one get one. Then I used my teachers discount for another 20% off.
