Fake flowers

Jade, on September 25, 2019 at 3:12 PM Posted in Planning 1 33
I’m trying to get my budget down and how much I will spend on each thing. I’ve been stuck on flowers for a week now because they’re just so expensive and I would need a bouquet for me, 5 BMs, 14-15 tables, and the corsages and boutonnières. I’m looking into fake flowers but I’m nervous about it because idk what it would look like in person or in photos.

Does anyone have photos of their fake flower bouquets or centerpieces? Or if anyone knew what a reasonable price for flowers would be that would be helpful lol. I’ve seen anywhere from $150 for the bouquet to $500+ the bouquet so I just don’t want to overpay!

Have you thought about sola wood flowers? Bridal bouquets are typically 150-160 and everything else is priced under that. Some shops on Etsy also allow you to buy samples so you can see what the flowers look like in person

This is something I found on Etsy. A seller called DressMyWedding. There are others also, on Etsy who do artificial flowers that look really real.

I've heard from other brides that this shop has some really reasonable prices. Check it out!!

I got mine from Michael's ! You can go to a craft store in person to look at the flowers. They often times have bouquets already put together also.

I think fake flowers are totally fine and can be really elegant.

If you want real flowers I have a great idea for you! You can order great flowers in bulk from stores like costco, BJs and Sams club!

I got mine from Michaels. I bought enough to make 1 bridal bouquet, 2 bridesmaid bouquets, 5 bouts, 5 corsages for about $38 including floral tape. I went a little on the small side, though.

Another thought: Your BMs don't have to carry bouquets. I've seen them carry single flowers, lanterns, parasols, clutches, Bibles, etc. With five BMs, having them use something else (or not carry anything at all) could really cut your costs.

As to your own bouquet, you can keep the cost way down by using flowers that are local and in season, and having a hand-tied bouquet rather than what I refer to as "the club" (which is heavily wired, and thus needs a lot of labor to put it together).

Corsages really aren't necessary at all. Boutonnières aren't necessary for the fathers, etc. Even for the groomsmen, you could use something like pocket squares instead of boutonnières.

Centerpieces don't need to include flowers. At my son's wedding, they had stacks of old books. I've seen cucumbers or lemons in vases. Or lanterns. Or candles.

Flowers tend to be expensive. But there are a lot of things you can use other than flowers.

If you don't like how fake flowers at Michael's looks, you are better off with real touch flowers, but they can be just as pricey as real. Look into Costco, Sam's club and

Go to hobby lobby I was overwhelmed by how many flowers they had to choose from. Also I'm poor so real flowers aren't a go for me. I'm making the centerpieces to the head pieces for the flower girls. And they look good.

I bought my bouquet, 4 bridesmaid bouquets, 8 corsages and 8 boutonnieres for $170 on Amazon! I plan on purchasing more flowers here and there to add a little more onto my bouquet and for décor, so maybe another $100-$150.

There’s a company called Something Borrowed Blooms that lets you rent silk bouquets, boutonnieres, garlands, etc. for much, much cheaper than any florist I’ve received quotes from. I recently ordered a bouquet sample and that’s what sold me on ordering for my wedding next September! To me, the flowers look super real. You also have the option to rent or purchase your bridal bouquet. Here’s the website if you or anyone else is interested!

My flowers are coming from Kroger's floral department. It's half the cost of traditional florists, plus I get to just throw out the flowers once the wedding is over!

If you are still hoping for real flowers, I've heard Costco does wedding flowers & people have been pretty happy with them and they are more affordable!

I am contemplating whether to use fake or real flowers. I found some fake ones I like a lot on Etsy from a shop called Qfloralstudio. I don't like the idea of real flowers going to waste. But do not want it to be obvious that the flowers are fake.

If I go with real flowers, I am going to use the local grocery floral department called Fry's. A friend recently used them for her very large wedding party and centerpieces etc. and paid less than $400 Smiley surprise

I don't have any pictures but i would recommend you check on websites/apps that have people selling used items locally and upcycle the arrangements too. We found someone in our city that was trying to get rid of a lot of their wedding decor and pretty much got a lot of stuff for a steal!

We spent $100 total on (real) flowers. Skipped the floral centerpieces (we just had candles, and honestly a more elaborate centerpiece was not missed!) my bouquet was professional and was $70. Bridesmaids bouquets were DIY done with grocery store flowers. $30 TOTAL to make all 4 of them. No regrets! I think they looked lovely and we saved so much money.

We are doing fake flowers for the decor and centerpieces but real flowers for the bridal party. Personally, I felt the need to have real flowers for the bridal party but didn’t care too much about the reception space
