Fake or Real Flowers???

Cindy, on June 23, 2016 at 8:41 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 28

I'm kinda tossed between getting fake flowers and making my own arrangements (cheaper) or real flowers (more expensive & die) Your thoughts??

    If you don't have allergies...

There is no substitute for real flowers. They are always my favorite decor detail of wedding and are classic, elegant and just plain the best.

There are many ways to preserve your bouquet after the wedding if you want the keepsakes

I don't think that they die should matter. Do you really want a bunch of fake flowers to deal with after the wedding? What would you even do with them? Also, really check pricing because many people think fake flowers are cheaper and for me they were going to be WAY more. You can always do your own arrangements with real flowers as well. Personally if it came down to it I'd rather have fewer real flowers than a ton of fake. They never look real and to me they just always feel slightly tacky.

I prefer real flowers, but I do like Bailey's wood flowers bouquet!

We used Sola flowers. We had the bouquets made but the boutineires and corsages were so easy to make. And I get to display my bouquet in my home.

I prefer real but fake can be done tastefully if that is what you ultimately want to do. I think sticking to one type of flower (or one main flower and one accent) can help the look of fake bouquets.

If you go with real, (and I'm assuming want to diy your flowers due to cost), there are many great online flower places where you can get pretty much anything in bulk - Flower Explosion, Blooms by the Box, etc. Just keep in mind, you'll need some things to create all this - real or fake, (wire, tape, etc.) so consider all costs as you compare.

I am doing fake flowers at the second reception we are having. Our centerpieces are going to be a glass bowl with floating candles and then a single large real touch bloom in a bud vase.

For the actual wedding, you should look into costco or sams club flowers. They are surprisingly inexpensive. fiftyflowers.com will send you centerpieces already arranged for a good price. Not all real flower providers are unreasonable. Just know that most wedding florist overcharge and some other providers will actually provide nice blooms at a lower price because they are not a glitzy enterprise.

To arrange silks is very time consuming. I made all the arrangements for my first wedding. This time I am using silk arrangements borrowed from my sister for the church but all the bouquets, bouts and corsages will be real. Still need to work out the reception decorations.

We are using fake flowers from Michael's. They were having a spring sale so I got all of the flowers for very cheap. We are using them for bouquets, aisle decorations, centerpieces and cake decorations.

Price compare the real and artificial. I found a wholesale flower dealer (way cheaper than a florist) and I'm making my own arrangements. I really wanted fresh flowers. When its all over our guests can take them if they like.

Did real touch fakes. I don't have a place to keep reals cool and watered so it was florist or nothing...and the florist wanted $35 per mason jar of baby's breath and wax flowers. Helll no.

We wanted real and after 2 florists fell through we went with Kroger's. It was affordable for all centerpieces and bouquets, plus arrangement and delivery for under 1k. That is for 10 small vases and 2 tall, and if you provide them with vases (you can get them on sale from hobby lobby) it's even less. The quality of flowers varies from Kroger to Kroger so you might check out reviews for your local stores.

Personally I always wanted fake flowers because they are easier to manipulate, last forever, don't encourage bugs to visit, cheap, and are usually not limited by the season.

Personally I prefer real. I didn't have a huge budget for my florist so I'm just doing bouts and bouquets. The florist I found was able to work within my budget and add some details to make them more elaborate.

Last wedding I was in had fake, made by the bride out of various kinds of fabric. I loved them and they were beautiful but just not my style for my wedding.

I probably spent close to $70 on fake flowers only to realize that I am horrible at putting together bouquets. Nothing looked good. It was awful. So now I'm paying $700 for real flowers (just the wedding party) and I'm so happy I am going this route. No more worry if my crappy bouquets would look good.

I've never really been a fan of flowers, so I am going with Ecoflower for all the bouquets and super simple centerpieces with like 2 or 3 real flowers and candles.

It's all about what you prefer to do, what you can afford, and what you like best.

Fake, I have been to numerous weddings that the flowers have died before the ceremony starts. (Probably due to the humid hot weather here) I am not taking any chances.
