Fake vs real flowers

Abbi, on January 26, 2017 at 9:38 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 26

Im sure this has been posted about but I am on mobile and can not search. I just would like to know pros and cons of real vs fake. Also do you think it would look wierd to do fake flowers for the bouquets and boutonnieres but real on the tables for the reception? Is there a huge cost difference or are the similar in pricing.

I plan on having real flowers no matter how many times my mom tries to talk me out of it. I know it will cost more, but I expect that. Bouquets and centerpieces will both have real flowers.

I'm on the fence about this as well but think ultimately I will do real flowers. Getting fake flowers that look real (ie. real touch, true touch) can be really expensive... they're priced per stem and that can really add up and then wind up being just as expensive or even more so. Otherwise other types of fake flowers usually look... really fake. Anyways I know there's a lot of brides here using fake flowers so hopefully they'll weigh in.

I hot a really great quote for real under $2000 and i need alot. However im neverous about being scamed. The more known reputable companies double her cost and i simply can not afford 4000 on something that will die in a week. So im thinking maybe i could do my own fake for a decent cost but I am not sure where to even start.

You could start pricing out the fake stems. I think it's hard to know how much you need though. When I was bouncing this idea around I google searched for "real touch flowers" and some websites popped up, I think a couple I looked at were afloral and flowers by design or something. If having the most real looking fake ones is important to you of course.

Alternatively you could look at bloominous or fiftyflowers. They're real flowers, but they send you what you need and you just put them together. But DIYing your own real flowers right before your wedding could be very stressful and time consuming. But something to look at regardless.

If you want really nice fake flowers, then they generally cost the same amount as real flowers. The benefit is they are able to be preserved much longer than real flowers. You could always go to the grocery store and DIY. Another con with that is that it is hard to keep them fresh before the wedding. My grandmother is does florist work in her spare time and is purchasing flowers from our local produce junction. The flowers are gorgeous and cheap!

Also, if you ever are on mobile and want to search a topic, you can type in any question on google with the words "wedding wire" next to it. It saves me a lot of time when I'm not on the desktop.

We are doing flowers from sams club and costco and arranging them but we are only doing bouquets of greenery with peonies. Costco also has centerpieces with the glass vase for $19.99 medium size and $29.99 for Large. They should have business cards to order online through their flower merchandiser

Real flowers are so expensive. Here is how I handled it. I nixed flowers. I decided to have a flowerless wedding. My bouquet is made of pine cones, feathers, fabric bows, and buttons. I made it all. It cost less than $20 for my bouquet and 5 BM bouquets. I did similar things for the boutinieres. I chose candles and painted wine bottles for the centerpieces. So much cheaper.

I personally couldn't substitute anything for real flowers. I have a vision of fresh, beautiful arrangements and bouquets that I couldn't budge from.

Have you checked with your florist to see if they can switch out some of the flowers? I saved about $1000 by using hydrangeas as a filler. They take up a lot of space and look nice. Everything else will be randomly placed within the hydrangea. It still fits the original look I was going for because I bet all of the same colors and types of flowers I wanted.

I put together all of my flowers using real touch peonies and roses. I found the peonies on etsy and the roses at Hobby Lobby. I think they look great, you can't even tell they are fake!

I am doing fake flowers for my bouquets I ordered from wedideas their flowers look amazing for fake flowers and they are reasonably priced I think. I got a discount because I ordered on black Friday but I got 4 bridesmaid bouquets and my bouquet which is cascading, two corsages for the mothers, my grooms boutineers and r groomsman boutineers for $545. I may do real flowers to decorate the aisle and chickie hut for the ceremony on the beach though.
