false eyelashes or mascara only

kathy, on September 14, 2009 at 7:23 PM Posted in Planning 0 35

Hey ladies, I was wondering if you have any advice/experience on this topic. Whichever you recommend, please list which style/brand worked best so I can try them out. Thanks!

I'm going with false lashes my self. I don't remember the brand but I got them at CVS (have similar ones at walgreens also). If you do get them, make sure you get the ones that look natural so they enhance your own lashes (not make it look like you have tarantulas perched up there). And practice, practice, practice! Make sure it's not the first time you use them on your wedding day because they can be a little tricky at first.

Also you can look into lash extensions. They look completely natural and last several weeks.

I'm doing falsies! My makeup artist put them on me during my trial run and they were awesome (not to mention I felt a tad bit glamorous)! It def kicked up the entire look!

Hi there...If going with mascara, remember only waterproof will do. When my brides want to wear false eyelashes I reccomend they get them a couple days before the wedding, this way they get use to them, nothing worse than seeing a bride batting her eyes because it feels like something is hurting or irratating them. You have lots of time to practice on different brands and sometimes some of the cheapest brands are the best. Have fun!

I'm doing false lashes but my friend who is a makeup artist is doing mine. I had my makeup trial Saturday before my shower and I LOVED the eyelashes. They really popped in pics too. They were 2 eyelashes together, that she dabbed in glue and put on with these really cool "tweezers". She only put them on the end eyelashes. I agree with Konichiwa - PRACTICE. Don't do it the day of your wedding and have them fall out when you're tearing up..tacky! Smiley smile Good luck.

Use both....they will make your photos incredible. Everyone is correct about practicing...practice a lot. If you are self-applying, you also want to wear them for several hours to ensure that you've applied them correctly....don't need one falling halfway off halfway through your reception!!! (Also stay away from really frosty eyeshadows if you're applying your own makeup). If you have a makeup artist, do a trial run. She'll be able to put them on correctly so they'll stay. I advise my brides to get a makeup artist if at all possible...it truly makes a difference in your photos. Best of Luck!

I am just doing mascara but that is mostly because I already have thick long lashes. No one seems to believe me that these are my natural lashes. lol.

I've used false lashes before and they've stayed on with no problems, but it was for Halloween! LOL! It was the shape of them that didn't look natural, so I'm gonna try the shapes similar to the first one Konichiwa posted, with some water proof mascara also. I know I'm gonna need it. I can't even listen to the songs for my ceremony or father/daughter dance now without crying! I'm gonna be a mess! Red face and all!

I haven't really decided on this yet, my lashes are naturally full but I thought of just using that Loreal Tube Extension Lashes Mascara? IDK, I'm goin to walmart tonight to look at my options. Hopefully this Loreal stuff is waterproof. If not, I guess I'll have to look into fakes, I've never worn them so I'm a little leary.

    Hi Kathy,

As a makeup artist, I never let my bride walk down the aisle without false lashes. They are beautiful and make a huge difference both in person and in pictures. I use the Andrea brand. You can find them in CVS and Walgreens. They are amazingly natural looking, and most brides find them very comfortable. I do recommend that you try a few out for the best fit. You might need to cut them a bit at the ends to fit your eyes, etc. Depending on your experience, you can put them on yourself or have someone do it for you.

    Good luck!!

    Mascara only.

my husband loves me looking natural so why would i want to add all this fake stuff to me? id never wear false eyelashes to anything else so why on my wedding day? i hate when brides wear stuff that is so not them and that they would never wear otherwise just because its their wedding. just look yourself.

if you do often wear fake eyelashes then go for it. but i dont.

My makeup will basically be what I normally wear, just a different eyeshadow color, I guess I think like Shell does, lol, I want to look like 'me' in the pics and when fh sees me, I don't want to look 'too' made-up, BUT, in all fairness to everyone else, if you like the look of falsies, then go for it, to me it is an individual taste Smiley smile

As more and more time passes my fiance gives me restrictions on my day of look...lol...first it was controling my boobs (which is hard) and then there was 'i dont like your hair up so please wear it down) and then there was NO FALSE EYE LASHES! He, like Shell, feels that I shouldnt go to over board with the day of look. That he loves me as I am. If it were up to him I wouldnt go tanning, I would do my own hair and makeup and I wouldnt be dieting lol

Most of our brides go with lashes. I very rarley use a strip but use the duralash naturals. They add fullness without loooking fake and blend in with your own lashes. They only have about 4 lashes per unit so i can do just the ends if someone wants natural or all through and with different lengths according to the eye. i have also had brides lie down and i have put the duralash on and filled in with single lashes. (i do lash extensions as well so I am used to doing single applications)The beauty of the smaller lashes versus strip if your doing them yourself is that if one falls off you wont notice..

(I also always use waterproof mascara along with them and waterproof glue)

also, moms love them on themselves!!!

    Hi Kathy,

As a makeup artist, I have done both for my brides, but I always recommend doing False eyelashes. They do make your eyes pop and you can find lashes that are natural looking. Two brands that I use depending on the effect are Andrea (CVS, Walgreens etc.) or the MAC lashes. Practice putting them on yourself or find a professional that can do it for you. Also, where them out once so that you are used to having them on.

    Good Luck!

Falsies of course... MAC is the best!! They are reusable and last a long time!! If you go to the MAC counter and buy them they will also put themo on for you, or have your makeup artist do it of course!!

Hey Kathy ~ WEll, last night I went and bought the Loreal Double Length Tube Extensions mascara. I could only find the old formula (which lengthens up to 60%) in waterproof. The new formula (which lengthens up to 80%) they have apparently NOT formulated to be waterproof yet because I could not find it, anywhere. SO I bought the old formula. It worked well, obviously not as good as the dramatization in the commercials but it did make my lashes about 1/4" longer. Their black mascara part for step 2 didn't cover very well, so I then put my everyday mascara over top. I use covergirl lash blast normally. My lashes looked awesome! Longer and fuller!! So, this is my day of lash choice! I even test it's waterproof-ability and it passed so. It's a winner!
