False eyelashes versus eyelash extensions?

Meagan, on February 14, 2019 at 6:03 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 21
Do you prefer false eyelashes or eyelash extensions for your wedding day?

Which looks better?

Which is easier?

I’ve never had eyelash extensions and the only time I wore false eyelashes was for my engagement photos.

Thanks!

I got eyelash extensions a couple months before my wedding and didn’t really like them. They were a lot of maintenance and I hated not being able to rub my eyes and having to sleep on my back. I also had to clean them and brush them out everyday. I have friends that absolutely love eyelash extensions but for me they weren’t worth the hassle. For falsies I would recommend the individual lashes vs the strips.

I don’t understand the popularity of this sort of eyelash trend - I think natural lashes, maybe accented with a bit of mascara - look way better.

But then I tend to prefer a natural look overall. I don’t care for spackle and paint for makeup, LOL, to illustrate I recently found a gray in my hair and was super thrilled, like for real! Natural beauty shining through is prettier to me than lash extensions or fakes or whatever. I bet your eyes on their own are more beautiful than you think - be confident and let them shine, would be my advice for “which looks better”. 😊

I’m not a fan of extensions just because of how frequently you have to get them filled. I use Virago Babe false lashes and love them! They have a bunch of different styles too so some add barely more than a really good mascara would and some are much more bold.

I love the look of (good) extensions on others, but I know I wouldn't want to keep up with them after the wedding. Most people will tell you to have them filled in every two weeks, which if I got them done the day before my wedding, would put me in the middle of my honeymoon. I definitely don't want to be walking around my honeymoon with wonky eyelashes.

This did not happen to me personally, but to my coworker. Last month, she got mink eye lash extensions. After she got them removed, her natural eye lashes became very sparse and brittle. I'm not saying dont get eye lash extensions, just consider this a possibility. She horribly regrets her decision to get them.

Thank you so much ladies!!!! I’m definitely skipping the extensions and maybe false lashes too, to go for a more natural look!

Me too! My real lashes were almost nonexistent afterwards. It’s taken me 4 months of daily lash serum to get them back to normal.

I was all for getting them for my wedding until I saw her real lashes afterwards. They almost look to the point where the damage is irreversible.

Do you know why this happened? Maybe you're allergic to the glue the beautician used? Or maybe the beautician pulled out your natural lashes when removing the false ones(if you did get them professionally removed)?

I have no idea. Mine were just extremely short afterwards where it looked like I had no lashes. I googled it and it said the stress on the lashes can disrupt the growth cycle.

Well, that makes my decision making a lot easier on not getting them. I'm sorry that happened to you. I hope your lashes look better than ever after taking care of them.

I loved my eyelash extensions I got for my engagement pictures. It is a little frustrating not being able to rub your eyes but to me it’s worth it. I will be getting them again for my wedding. I had no trouble with my real lashes falling and they lasted me about 3 weeks. And I do wash my hair everyday( I have to due to extremely oily hair). I guess it’s up to you.

I am allergic to everything so I can’t do falsies. I’ve been using R+F eyelash boost and holy moly! I’ve never had lashes in my life, and they were blonde and useless. If you have time and funds, I’d recommend trying it!

I had false eyelashes & they looked awesome. My eyes looked bigger but still natural.

Whhhyyyy would you spend the money on a lash extension procedure? They are very damaging to your natural lashes after continued use and look ridiculous when they start falling out. False lashes are often included in makeup application or up to $10 extra as opposed to the money you'd spend on lash extensions. Just some perspective!

I've gotten lash extensions 4 separate times for different events. For awhile, I just got them because I liked them (like 6 months). I end up touching them WAY too much and I'm neurotic about combing them. I also get big ones, so when one falls out or two in the same area, it's so noticeable and I hate it. The most recent time, the girl didn't do a great job and they fell out way too quickly. I also didn't like how gentle I had to be with my eyes while washing my face. So for the wedding, I'm going with fake lashes (probably just a full set rather than individual ones).

I had lash extensions for 2 years .. I took them off about 2 years ago to give my lashes a break.. I never went back- it was so nice to be able to wash my face and sleep how I wanted and not worry about ruining my lashes lol... I wore falsies for my wedding it’s so much easier !

Wow really !! I used this for a while after I took my extensions off and feel like after 6 weeks I could tell a difference but then that was it nothing further - I’m glad you’re having a better experience
