Falsies vs Extensions

Kaylyn , on January 12, 2018 at 11:44 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 13
I’m planning on having my engagement photos taken in a couple of months and wanted some eyelash advice. I’ve only worn false lashes once, a couple years ago, and I took them off within an hour because they were so irritating. I really want to try eyelash extensions but they are pretty pricey, so I wanted to know if they’re worth it. Or if anyone had tried any “eyelash serums” that work?

Extensions pulled my real lashes out 🙁 for My engagements I practiced every day applying falsies. I got to the point where putting them on was a breeze and couldn’t even tell they were there.

I use clusters. It's three little lashes that you glue in individually. This this me with only one set on, but you can add more. They're easy to apply and don't feel weird and annoying. They have a lot of bang for the buck and don't have a disclaimer that they may permanently darken hour eye color.

I got eyelash extensions, and I hated them. It's really hard to put on your makeup around them, and take your makeup off without damaging the eyelashes. Then, once they fell out, they really damaged my real lashes. If you want them full-time, then they might be okay, but I was not a fan. (I do know others that really are though!)

I've been using Rodan & Fields eyelash serum and it has grown my lashes tremendously. I hate pyramid-scheme-type companies, and I don't like that it works so well, but it really does.

As for false lashes, maybe try using a different glue. Some glues hurt my eyes and annoy me more than others.

    Good luck!

I personally hate eye lash extensions but I've used the mascara's where they have the fake stuff in it and it sticks to your real lashes so they look fuller and longer. I love those the best. Two Faced and Younique make their own kinds and I've used both and love them. Never used a serum though, if you do, let us know how it works out!

My HMUA applied wispies individually instead of a while lash at a time and it was SO light and felt great all night.

Oh, glue! That is super important. Every MUA I know used Duo. I use clear, but a lot of people prefer black.

I had extensions and I loved how they looked but hard to apply eye liner and sometimes eye shadow. Also once they all kinda fell out my real eye lashes looked really damaged and with mascara they didn't look like they usually did. I'd find someone who can help you apply the eye lashes. Make sure before you put on fake lashes you cut them shorter to line up with your eye ( not the lashes but the band ) you also don't want the lash band to hit the inside corner of your eye.

I've always wanted to get eyelash extensions but I have bad allergies and rub my eyes too much for them to be worth it Smiley sad

I think it's definitely worth trying extensions for your engagement pictures to see if you like them, or do the falsie clusters like HowCo Industries suggested! I like the clusters so much more than the full lash set.

I’ll second the Rodan and Fields eyelash serum. It’s pricey, but so are fake lashes. I have a couple of friends who use it and their eyelashes look amazing. Totally worth it. Will likely start using it as my wedding gets closer.

For reference, I'm posting a selfie pre-Rodan & Fields eyelash serum and today (after around 2 months of use - sorry for my mean selfie face today). Both using same mascara.

I think maybe I used a poor glue and didn’t set them down enough. I’ll probably try wearing a couple different sets of falsies(and definitely will buy Duo glue) this month and if I find one that works I’ll use those for my photos and maybe save a little money so I can try the serum once my wedding gets closer

Be careful with Rodan and Fields eyelash serum. I used it, loved it because it works, but then it started to make my eyelids red where I applied it. So I had to stop. I'm still waiting for the redness to go away. It makes my eyes look terrible.
