My fiancé and I moved our wedding date from October 25, 2020 to November 14, 2021, just a random fall date that was available next year.

We thought there was special about 11-14, until last week...
I was randomly talking to my mother about wedding bands, and asked if my FH and I had discussed rings yet and I told her not yet. She then proceed to tell me that my father and her would be honored if they gifted me her wedding band as my own, as it’s a family heirloom on my dad’s side of the family. She then said “you do not have to have it as your wedding band, but you’re getting it regardless.”
I was so honored, and thanked them, and was confused as to why she wanted to give up her wedding band as a) she is still married to my dad and b) she hasn’t passed away so it’s not like she isn’t be wearing it.
She then goes “I’ve been married to your father for 33 years. He’s not going anywhere, I’m not going anywhere, I will wear my grandmother’s wedding band that was given to me as my new band. It’s really not a big deal that I wouldn’t be wearing it.”
My mom’s current wedding band was given to her from my dad as a gift, it’s his great-great grandmother’s wedding band, (my greatx3). The wedding date is engraved in the ring, and she married my great-great-great-grandfather on November 14, 1868.
So exactly 153 years later, on November 14, 2021, I’ll be honored to hold such a special piece of family history on my wedding day and beyond.

I am also getting married on 11/14/21! I have struggled with finding a way to honor my father in my life as I come from an all girls family and his “line” ends with us. He also immigrated from Laos and doesn’t actually know when his birthday is. His legal birthday is in February but the based off of my grandmothers memory she said he was born in the fall. Long story short, the only date that my ceremony and reception venue had available, was 11/14/21. I felt so much peace picking that date knowing he’ll always be a part of that date.
