Family rings not what expected

My FH proposed with rings he bought himself. I love them!! His aunt (Mom’s sister) who lives in Mexico decided she wanted to buy another set of wedding rings for us. I never agreed to it but they wanted to do something nice for us. They came up to visit, I came home from work he showed them to me I honestly do not like it. It’s so thick, at first I thought it was his band but both his and mines looks exactly the same, also they engraved our names into but my name isn’t even spelled correctly. I appreciate the thought and the fact they brought it with them from Mexico, I feel horrible but it’s not something I see myself wearing. I’m so conflicted, help!!tenor.gif

    Well that was very bold of her to do, especially without guidance of any kind. Although the thought was quite sweet, I would just tell her exactly what you just said. We never agreed on you (or anyone else) buying us a new set. Unfortunately, it's not my (or our) style and my name is even spelled incorrectly. Just thank her and let her know that you won't be wearing them. Maybe let her know that you'd still at least keep them for the thought (if you want).

    If she lives in Mexico how often are you really going to see her? If you almost never see her, just say thank you, and don't wear them.

    Like everyone else said thank her and don’t wear them. Also I’d ask my partner to tell his family how to spell my name.

    You don't have to wear someone else's cheesy rings. But you can respect the family by keeping or excepting the rings or whatever, and wear then occasionally. That just might your relationship better on some gloomy days.
