Family to friend ratio

How many friends versus how many family will be at your wedding? Our wedding is starting to look like a retirement home party. Anyone else?

My side balances out his side. His side is all family and his parents' friends and his groomsmen and BM are his only friends invited since he doesn't really keep in contact with people. My side is some family, a few of my mom's friends and a bunch of my friends, their kids if they want to bring them, and my coworkers. That's just the guest list though, haven't sent invites to get rsvps yet.

I feel the same way... way more family and not that many friends. And most of the friends are 40+ 😂

Mine is about 50% my family, 25% his family (due to drastically different family sizes), and 25% friends

Ours is mostly family! Which I am 100% ok with! We have a very small group of friends, that most are in our bridal party!

I'd say we're 60% family, 40% friends, which also includes a handful of my parents' friends.

My intentions are 50% family and 50% friends. But I do think honestly family might out guest friends.

We are like 40% family, 60% friends. We made a choice to not invite a lot of extended family because we never see them and didn't feel like a blood relation gave them a better reason to be at our wedding then our friends who we regularly talk to

Ours is closer to half and half. But a lot of our family is closer to our age and our grandparents have passed so there won't be as many older guests.

We are unfortunately going over our original guest list number that we wanted (100) due to our large family sizes. Both of us, the family we are inviting (we did exclude some people for different reasons that have already caused issues within each family, another story though) totals out to be about 80 people. It'll likely wind up being 75-80% family after we get RSVPs back.

My family is HUGE compared to his- but his friend group is a lot bigger than mine. Most of my "friends" are actually the wives/girlfriends of his friends so I really only have a couple close friends and they're in the bridal party. I think we're about 60% family and 40% friends though.

I literally looked at Floof a few weeks ago and said "Can we have a no-family wedding?" The drama from family is RIDICULOUS. Smiley ups Either way, it looks like we are ending up with about 50/50. Most of our friends are joint friends...but most of the family are mine. I feel bad, but I also just have a significantly larger family than he does.

I guess I should clarify my question. What percentage of your guests are 40+?

    40 years old+ if you’re in your 29-early 30s.

Mostly friends. Friends are what matters to us; we aren't super close to our family.

    Maybe 20% family, tops.

Lol our friend group is SMALL. Like, super small. and our families are small, so our guest list is like 35, with 90% of them coming from out of town. It's about half & half of younger people and an older crowd

LOL - this totally changes my answer in the opposite way you would expect. We will have mostly family there but that means a lot of younger people - I have 4 sisters plus dates for all of them plus one sister has 3 kids who are all in the wedding, then all our cousins and my cousins' kids... BUT we are in a charity costuming club which is where most of our close and local friends are from and I would say that at least half if not 2/3rd of our friends in the group are 40+. So a lot more family but they are mostly younger and a lot of older friends who can really party. If it makes a difference I will be 38 on our wedding day and my fiancee will be 26. Just briefly thinking through our friends guest list in my head I would say maybe 10 will be under 40, and 35 will be over 40 and out of our family 10 will be under 18, about 25 will be over 40 and 40 will be between 18 and 39.
