Familymoon?!

Kristyn, on June 27, 2011 at 6:27 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 20

I'm just curious if anyone else is going on a familymoon verses a honeymoon!? Think family vacation meets honeymoon LOL. My "FH" and I are getting remarried and have two children together, so instead of going on a honeymoon, we are taking a family vacation to Disney. Smiley smile

I know a few on here who are doing it, or going with parents and other family if its a DW. I wouldn't do my honeymoon that way just cuz I'd want the total privacy and fully focusing on just us and celebrating together (although I don't have kids) but I can understand people who want to do it that way..plus for me it may be a lil awkward if other family members were there and we'd have to sneak off for "naps" lol. But from those who have done it it didn't seem like it was a big deal having family there; with kids that's different..they'd be crushed if you went to Disney or somewhere without them maybe!

Never heard of a familymoon, but it sounds like a fun idea. and in your circumstance it definitely sounds like a good idea.

we didn't go on a honeymoon, but the next major vacation we plan will be one that includes the kids. we still want to go on a honeymoon though

Well, in a sense, yes. We're having a DW and our families will be with use for 4 of our 7 days.

I think is perfect, since you two have kids together this is the perfect moment to celebrate your re-union and what better way to do it with your special ones. Just don't forget to take some private time just for the 2 of you afterwards :-)

We actually went with our bestfriends on a 'familymoon'. When they got married they wanted to include their kids in everything so instead of a honeymoon they did a family moon. This invitation was also extended to me & my family of 4, I was the maid of honor, and to another friend of ours. We all went to Disney World for a week and it ended up being 10 of us. We had a blast.

Now for our wedding since we are getting married on a cruise we invited all guest to sail. We have 12 sialing with us so I guess you can call it a familymoon. We plan to take a honeymoon next year. ALONE! lol

LOL, Katrina M., below is a photo of my babies. Your plane ticket will be in the mail. Smiley winking

I'm considering using Disney's Kid's Nite Out service, I'm just leery of leaving my children with a stranger, regardless of their background check or training.

I guess ours is kind of like that... we are taking a honeymoon cruise but are inviting whoever wants to join us to come along... since it's 2 one week cruises back to back, we have some coming on the first week and some on the second, and some on both! We love out family and friends and wouldn't want it any other way... we'll still have plenty of alone time too since we'll have our own suite, be doing our own excursions, and having some private dinners Smiley smile I think it's a great idea for you guys especially being that you have kids!

Our situation is a little different: The Disney trip is planned around moving forward as a family and this, of course, includes our children. My "FH" and I were first married nine years ago, separated and have now reunited and are getting remarried. Don't you worry, though, we'll be staying in a hotel after our reception ALONE and have a two bedroom condo at Disney. Smiley winking

We are doing a familymoon Smiley tongue We were supposed to take a trip to Hawaii in March (it's where I grew up and we still have family and friends there, so we were planning on going back to visit) But FH was just about to graduate so he couldn't take any time off of school. So we decided to postpone the trip until after the wedding.

It's also cutting down on cost because we are renting a condo instead of a hotel room, and the price is being divided amongst 6 of us.

FH and I will have our own car though, so we will be by ourselves during the day. And of course our own room at night.

We will also be alone the night of the wedding... we will be flying out to Hawaii 2 days later

LMBO and here I thought I made that name up Familymoon LOL. Yes we are going on a familymoon. We have 3 grown children between us and then two underage. We are all going on a cruise together. Heres how we're working it. First 3days they are to let us pretend we are having a honeymoon and last 4 its all in the family. Every year we take a family vacation we hated the idea of skipping out this year just because of our wedding so we decided on the Familymoon

No go here for a "familymoon". We have been family camping all summer long so by the time we get married we will want us time not family time. Smiley smile

I agree....your children are so cute!! I have 2 children - a 3yr old with my FH and a 7 yr old from a previous relationship, but my FH has been in his life since he was 2. We wanted to do 2 trips...one 4 day weekend in Vegas just the FH and I right after the wedding, and then a "familymoon" to Disney after Christmas with the kids. I'm trying to find deals for both, but it is so expensive! Hopefully we receive enough cash gifts to afford the trip.

Any advice on where to book the Disney trip? I know that right after Christmas is the most expensive time, but I am a teacher so we would need to go during a school break.

We aren't doing a familymoon, but we are debating having the last 2 or 3 days of our honeymoon overlap with his brother's/parent's vacation, since we're all going to be at Disney. Smiley smile Figured we still get a lot of time alone + can enjoy a few fun days with the family at the end, so we'll see what happens.

We keep going back and forth about whether to have a honeymoon or familymoon. We both have a child from previous marriages. It would be nice to celebrate as a family. On one hand, we will be living apart for almost nine months so it might be really nice to be just by ourselves. On the other hand, my son and I will be moving from AZ to NC and I would hate to make the move and then leave on a honeymoon.

Kristyn - you kids are FREAKING CUTE!!! I haven't used the kids nite out service, but do have a friend who works there. I understand your feelings about the total stranger, but I also have faith in disney.

However, you don't need to send me a plane ticket - I only live 30 minutes from disney - I would watch them for you Smiley smile

We're going on a week long cruise for our honeymoon. We opened the invitation to all family and friends, and now have over 20 going. I have an 11 year old and this way she can go with us, but stay with her cousins. We get an awesome party group, plenty of family time, and much needed alone time. I can't wait!
