Family’s

Hi everyone! Me and my fiancé are getting married in a-little over a year. We are wanting to have something where both families come together to meet before the wedding. We are talking parents, siblings, grandparents, some aunts and uncles. I feel there will be to many people to simply meet over dinner. We were thinking of a back yard get together/ party. I need ideas, and thoughts on this. Has anyone else done anything like this? Or should we just let everyone meet at the wedding. Someone help!

I think either dinner or a get together will be just fine. Even with a big group it is a-ok!

I would definitely have everyone meet prior to the wedding to break the ice and get to know one another. My future in-laws have met my parents (they met 2 years ago) and are really good friends now, but they haven't met the rest of my family (or my family meet my future brother and sister in law) because everyone lives far apart from one another, so when everyone is in town for our wedding we will be doing a casual dinner at my parents' house to introduce everyone.

Yes!!! Same here girly. My FH and I want to do some traditional pre wedding celebrations such as engagement party, bridal shower, couple backyard night, movie night, and of course the rehearsal dinner but we are leaning a bit non traditional having about 3 day activities with our out of town guests and wedding party before I’m the big day ☺️ My FH’s mother wants to do after wedding celebration since our wedding is on Thursday and have it go Friday - Sunday and Sunday is our send off for honeymoon ❤️

We invited everyone to our rehearsal dinner so we could socialize before the wedding.

You can arrange that during your engagement party, bridal/wedding shower or rehearsal dinner.

You can have a backyard party/barbecue get together. We do those for both of our families all the time Smiley smile

People throw parties all the time, it doesn't have to be related to your wedding just to get your family together.

I had something similar when my FH decided to move in together, his family and my family got together there was food and drinks and loads of excitement. The families got to mingle and interact in a laid back setting. We hosted a dinner a a restaurant before this and it was formal and very meet the family but we for sure liked the backyard cookout more.

We did this at our engagement party, but it can also just be a party. You're getting married, everyone will be family afterwards - a get together is completely reasonable. Have (physically distanced) fun!!

We had a dinner with just the parents a few weeks after we got engaged to celebrate. My husband and I have too many family members in too many places to plan anything otherwise.
