So I have been trying to find a song to dance to with my dad. There are the usual ones that a lot of people suggest but those ones don't really fit my dad and I. The only song I have come up with is Celine Dion "Because you loved me" and that is because I used to love her when I was a kid and my dad...

So I have been trying to find a song to dance to with my dad. There are the usual ones that a lot of people suggest but those ones don't really fit my dad and I. The only song I have come up with is Celine Dion "Because you loved me" and that is because I used to love her when I was a kid and my dad would always buy me her CDs. I asked him about that song and he seemed like he didn't want that one. So I was back to the drawing board. I went to my first concert with my dad to see KISS. He is a huge classic rock fan and likes Journey, Bon Jovi, Peter Frampton, etc...can't think of all of them, but you get the idea. So far I have struck out on slow songs for Journey and KISS because they were definitely love songs (ones that I would feel awkward dancing with my dad to). Any ideas of a slow song from a classic rock band that isn't going to be weird to dance to with my dad??

I am so glad you posted this question Lauren. My dad and I are both huge fans of classic rock and I have been racking my brain trying to figure out a song that would fit for the both of us. I am a daddy's girl but in the traditional way. We dont have that lovey dovey relationship but we are really good friends and could talk all day about music and movies and just random things. I have heard there is a song that Ozzy and Kelly did together but I still havent heard it to decide yet. My dad goes to Oz Fest almost every year so I have a felling that could be the song we choose. But now I am looking at all of these other options and feel maybe I shouldn't decide until my dad and I get a chance to go over them and decide together.

Wow, Aubrey is sure not classic rock, which is really 70's rock.

My step dad likes that kind of music, I picked lean on me. I remember him coming into my room when I was a teenager and it was on the radio and him saying "You know kiddo, you can always lean on me." Smiley smile

Yeah Kathy, that is what I was thinking, I have never even heard him listen to them, but I guess it isn't exactly the kind of song you turn on and "jam" to. I guess for slow songs he prefers that style. I am just glad that he suggested a song. I didn't care what song it was it just meant a lot that he picked one Smiley smile

My dad and I are going to use "In My Life" by The Beatles. Basically, he's saying he's had so many people come and go in his life, and he's loved a bunch of them and forgotten a bunch as well, but no matter what, he loves you the most..."in my life, I love you more." Note this doesn't work so well when you have one or more sisters! I only have a brother, but I'd suspect it would be sort of cruel if your dad sang this to you and you happened to have a sister!! Here are the lyrics:

    There are places I'll remember

All my life, though some have changed

    Some forever, not for better

Some have gone and some remain

All these places have their moments

With lovers and friends I still can recall

Some are dead and some are living

In my life, I've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers

There is no one compares with you

And these memories lose their meaning

When I think of love as something new

Though I know I'll never lose affection

For people and things that went before

I know I'll often stop and think about them

In my life, I love you more

Though I know I'll never lose affection

For people and things that went before

I know I'll often stop and think about them

In my life, I love you more

In my life-- I love you more
