Father Daughter dance suggestions?

I'm not really in that boat but I think open arms by journey is a pretty good song. There's also a couple suggestions on pinterest and they have lists and stuff.

I danced with my brothers, but we used "When you need me" by Bruce Springsteen. Loved it.

I've said this before, and I'll offer it again: Think about your actual relationship with your dad. What are some important moments/ shared likes/ etc. for you? My dad and I don't have the most 'emotional' relationship either, and he's not my biological dad, so all the songs about seeing your daughter on the day she was born and stuff were out.

However, me and my dad love Donkey Kong (I legit considered using the theme for Donkey Kong Country, but it was too hard to dance to). We drove to the beach blaring Jimmy Buffet every summer of my childhood, and had kitchen singalong dance parties with a recurring playlist. We also super love the muppets, and have watched a lot of the old show and the new movies together. We're going with the version of "Rainbow Connection" from the 2011 (2013? idk) Muppets movie. Will everyone understand? No. Will it be a really, really special moment for me and my dad? Absolutely.

I also danced with my brother at his wedding to Stand By Me, Ben. E. King which was also really sweet

My dad is picking our song and refuses to tell me. I want to know.

Thanks everyone! I'm thinking Stand By Me is a great choice - just have to figure out how to dance to it! I mean, I literally can't dance. FH is trying to show me how to basically sway to our first song wth him, and it's embarrassing lol

You could do something faster like My Girl, Brown Eyed Girl or The Twist

We took one dance lesson for our first dance (but you could do one with your father there as well). We didn't want anything crazy or choreographed so one lesson was perfect to figure out how we could dance to our song (which also wasn't the most easily dance-able) and then we practiced some more at home. I recommend it if you can manage it!

I can't dance either so I'm a little nervous now that my wedding date is down to single digits, we'll see how that goes! My dad is my best friend, we're very close but not traditional or emotional so just asking to dance with him was awkward then finding a song was hard. I took the route of selecting a song from his favorite band because that's more him, though my FH went the route of picking a song he and his mom listened to all the time when he was a kid, it doesn't have to be cookie cutter/based on growing up and not being his little girl anymore, it can just be something you both appreciate.

We are doing "have I told you lately" by Van Morrison. I chose it because that is my dad's favorite artist growing up and because of that, I used to listen to his songs all the time. So trying to pick something by his favorite artist is often a good start.

We also did Celine Dion's Because You Loved Me, but a less-emotional choice I also really like is Just the Way You Are by Billy Joel
