I let my dad pick our father/daughter song. I felt it would mean more if he got to choose this special song with me.

He chose A Waltz for Debby by Johnny Hartman (the music comes in at about 12 seconds)

I was thinking about picking a song from my eyes to him as a surpirse to him to tell him how much i love him... we just to dance in the kitchen i'd hop up on his feet and dance to whatever happen to come on

I think that would be special too Ashleigh...if this was something the two of you did as you were a youngster, I'm sure it would mean a lot. I think anything you do with him for father/daughter dance will mean a lot to him Smiley smile

I have a stepdad too...we have a very unique relationship and we're complete goofballs together...so this was the only thing we wanted to do for our father/daughter dance Smiley smile

Aaw Cydney, that is soo cute! What a special moment.

My dad and I will be dancing to Cinderella by Steven Curtis Chapman. Every time I hear the song, I get teary eyed. I love it!

    Just Fishin by Trace Adkins

I personally dont like country but for the first 15 years of my life I only saw my dad when we were fishin... I think he will appreciate it. I was that girl in the video.

I let my dad pick the song and he picked 'Butterfly Kisses' by Bob Carlisle, but 'I Loved Her First' by Heartland was a close second.

I am going to leave it up to my dad, but if he insists I choose, I am going with "You've Got a Friend in Me" by Randy Newman. We're both emotional at times so something lighthearted is a must.

I'm going to use one of the new father daughter dances from www.weddingmusiccentral.com. My dad was thinking about "My Little Girl" or "Angel in My Arms" but I told him I wanted to use "You're My Hero" to thank him for being such a great dad. We really had a problem trying to deciide between these great songs and you don't hear them at everyone else's wedding!

Thanks ladies! It was so much fun! I wish I had a video of my father/daughter dance too. It was so special. We learned the waltz together and then he asked DH to cut in part way through and take over...my dad did this whole face like he couldn't believe my DH was cutting in, and then bowed at him as if he were okay with it Smiley smile Then DH took over and we did a full on choreographed waltz together. Just as fun!! Honestly...entertaining with surprises and dances for our guests was the highlight and so much fun!

My step-dad is the one who was with me since I was a kid and he came into the marriage with my mom with her already having 4 young children and just divorced, and he moved all the way over from Sydney Australia and left everything he knew to be with her and he was in his early twenties at the time. Our first dance is going to be a surprise, and it's "He Didn't Have to Be" by Brad Paisley

It's not the same story line but the message fits what I feel for him Smiley smile

Ashleigh, Cinderella sounds like it would be a good fit for you.

I definitely cried when looking through songs for our father/daughter dance, but didn't pick a sappy song because that doesn't really fit our relationship. My dad came up with the idea to start with a schmaltzy song and then break into a choreographed routine (which really surprised me because 'he can't dance' (his words, not mine). So we will start dancing to Joe Cocker's version of You Are So Beautiful (totally doesn't fit in with any of our wedding music) and then it will change to Ain't Nobody Here But Us Chickens.
