A few weeks ago someone made a post in the forum about possibly getting a faux wedding cake. I had never thought of that before. So a quick Etsy search I found a ton of them. The vendor was awesome to work with and their prices are very reasonable! I sent her a description of the cake I wanted and in less than five minutes she sketched it out and e-mailed it for my approval. It was absolutely perfect! She sent me a picture of the finished product before she shipped it out tomorrow. Her customer service skills are FANTASTIC!

I am in Atlanta and love love love nothing bunt cakes!!!!!!!

I guess this post doesn't make sense to me since you could go to a public or something liike it and get a tiered cake that size for about $200 and it still taste amazing. But your wedding and money, do what you want.

@Mary-Kate Are you hijacking this thread? You posted 10 times with maybe two or three different cakes and no real "content" to your post. If you want to show off cakes start a new thread don't revive a dead thread

We want a really cool Ace of Cakes cake, but since we will have between 150-200 guests, a sculpted cake that big will be beaucoup bucks. So our cake will be real, but we will have sheet cakes in the back for additional servings that most of the guests will get. Will save us a lot of money. I never thought of it as deceitful though. Sorry, guests.

I make fake cakes. I don't understand why everyone is freaking out about a fake cake. I bet her guest won't even notice the difference. Also, many people do not like the taste of fondant and peel it off prior to eating. Just make sure the taste is not compromise meaning, don't serve a Cosco sheet cake.

Folks who say guests won't notice... I have to say I would notice. I do notice - I can't be the only one.

Definitely not my style. The cake you're showing is a 4 tier cake and simple nothing major fancy. My cake was 5 tier and had sugar flowers etc on it and it wasn't even close to 800.00 I think you need to find a different baker. Not to mention we also had a separate tier already boxed for us to take home.

OP to me this is a waste of money and just plan stupid. Be real not fake.

Seems like a waste just to use as a prop. Who would buy someone's used "cake" anyway. Seems odd. What's your guests dinner looking like? You 2 newlyweds have a delicious meal and your guests get bait and switched on dinner too?

@MrsAbbey Hats off to you - it's wonderful that you did exactly what you wanted at your own wedding. That's an excellent idea - I absolutely will have to try that. As to the idea being stupid - we all are entitled to our own opinions. I am of the opinion that reviving an otherwise dead thread with well over 200 comments - a great deal of which is of the same opinion that you have - "It's stupid", "it's fake", etc, etc. is equally stupid and a complete waste of one's time as nothing new is being added to the conversation that hasn't already been said ad nauseam. Have a great rest of your day and best of luck to you and hubby!

Hijacking a thread...i got a great deal on Cheap wedding cakes...i was going to also use cheat cake...i thought i would share what i came across...and i think her option is beautiful. Its a shame that as a fellow bride just trying to share an option it is taken so negatively. I feel this is not my problem but the sensitivity or insensitivity of a few. My apologies for being helpful

@DESERTFOX - Weddings/Receptions are replete with props, as so many PP have already pointed out so eloquently, So can we please for the love of God stop talking about PROPS?!?!

I've never heard of a fully fake cake and think it would be awkward to match

I have heard of having a fake bottom tier or two to give a larger impression when less is needed
