A few weeks ago someone made a post in the forum about possibly getting a faux wedding cake. I had never thought of that before. So a quick Etsy search I found a ton of them. The vendor was awesome to work with and their prices are very reasonable! I sent her a description of the cake I wanted and in less than five minutes she sketched it out and e-mailed it for my approval. It was absolutely perfect! She sent me a picture of the finished product before she shipped it out tomorrow. Her customer service skills are FANTASTIC!

This is such a great idea! I've never heard of a faux cake. It looks legit. Now I want one.

@Cori M - you nailed it!!!! We didn't check out Wal-Mart but we checked out Sam's and Costco. BOTH were delicious! I think we're going with Costco.

Nope. I mean it's pretty, but you don't show people that cake and then give them a sheet cake. I just think it's rude.

And I would as a guest too.......

Seems like such a sham. And a waste of $165 in my opinion. That's an expensive ass photo prop.

    Geez Terri.....its cake.......

And not everyone here is a lady, a wife or a soon to be bride....

But I do have to say that the old, "my family and friends love me so much, I can do anything and they won't care," is so versatile that it can cover anything from buttercream to bales of hay.

If you truly don't care about our opinions, why are you getting so worked up about it?

In the retail world, this is called bait and switch -- present what appears to be a beautifully decorated, custom made cake, pretend it's going to be served to your guests, and serve them a slice of $30 sheet cake. Whatever. If photo-ops are your objective, then you win. And for what it's worth, most of us can taste the difference between a sheet cake and a cake baked by an artist.

Nevermind that the "why" questions and inquiries into how this fake cake works actually help others on WW understand enough about it to decide whether this is or isn't right for them. Sorry you didn't want to help people understand the fake cake.

Thanks @jebbers. Just looked up Nothing Bundt Cakes here in Charlotte. Will go in for a tasting. Went to Publix and didn't care much for their cakes. I tried all the flavors and only the carrot cake was above mediocre. Plus at $400+ (Publix price for 100 guests) I'd rather be in love with the cake.
