What stands out as your favorite part of a wedding? Your close friendship with the B&G? The awesome band? The pinterest-worthy decor? Thought itd be fun to talk about favorite things instead of wedding woes for a bit. (#stressed)

The speeches! Not .. open the floor and great uncle blah blah speeches, but thoughtful and heartfelt ones. I love seeing the power of words at work.

Good food and a lively dance floor! I just went to FH's best friend's wedding and because the DJ was so inexperienced (he played rap and then switched to 50s classics, then back to backstreet boys) no one was out on the dance floor except for two bridesmaids.

The DJ getting it right for the crowd, getting to talk with family, if/when the bride greets each guest, and I really love nice centerpieces/table settings.

This is an awesome thread, I never thought about things backwards like that!

DJ/Band/Playlist can really make or break a wedding. My husband and I are dance people and we've been to several weddings where the music just wasn't wedding fare and it was so disappointing. Dancing makes up a good portion of the traditional reception time and if the music doesn't fit the crowd, it's a bummer. We hired a ceilidh (Scottish contra dance) band to kick off our wedding and finish with a fun playlist of dance tunes that spanned several decades and was very tailored to our and our guests preferences to get everyone on the dance floor all night and it totally worked! A friend left her fitbit on for our wedding and it registered 3 hours straight of "running". Husband and I used the "Hooked on a Feeling" Pandora station for some great inspiration while putting together the reception dance playlist. I guess the dance music is a family priority as my mom was leaving me voicemails of "Make sure (Song) by (Artist) is on your playlist!" for months leading up to the wedding. I think we got most of her requests in ;-)

Music is definitely important! We went to a wedding recently that broke all the rules of WW (self catered, cash bar, etc.) but they had an amazing band and we had so much fun dancing all night long.

I love the ceremony, exchanging of vows, booze, food, and dancing. Basically the whole thing. I love weddings Smiley smile My favorite part is getting to see how the couple looks at one another. So in love! Smiley smile
