Favors - Necessary or Not?

Favors are a fun way to say "thank you" to your guests for coming to celebrate with you! But they're also an additional expense, and as a guest... do you really care about favors that much?? Where do you stand in the great favor debate?? Are they necessary or not? 🎉 Photo from Courtney Space Events...

They are not necessary, but you can hit two birds with one stone. We are doing a photo booth (Wooden Box Photo) and the pictures our guests take will be like a favor.

Lol I'm not doing favors. My fiance and I agree that 90% of our guests (family included) don't communicate at all. We're not paying extra for them. If anything we're going to do something on the cheaper side

Definitely not necessary. If my MOH hadn't offered to buy the favours, we would have kept them out entirely. We're doing rustic mason jars. Nothing engraved with our names or anything like that. Just with cute removable tags. And come on, who doesn't like mason jars?Smiley laugh

We're going to skip favors and donate to a few charities in our guests honor instead.

Not necessary. If you do go this route, it's better to go edible than tangible. I actually left the last favor that was given out at the wedding and didn't even take it home. Just another dust-collector that I didn't need.

    Not remotely.

We skipped, and to this day, no one has even said a word. We contemplated candy, but the cost just wasn't worth it, and I don't think I've ever used anything that wasn't a non-edible favor.

Not necessary. We are giving our guests welcome bags filled with goodies plus our wedding is seated dinner with full open bar and a late night snack. We will have a thank you note placed at each seat but that will be it. It just seemed wasteful to FH and myself as we cannot remember any favors from the many weddings we have been to together over the last 4 years.

Not necessary but a nice way to "thank" you guests by giving them a cute keepsake.

Not 100% but if you feel the need, make them edible! Personalized favors with the couples names and wedding date will never get used again and will likely end up in the trash.

Nah not unless they're paying for more than gas and a gift. I mean they're getting a party and free food!

Well, they are not necessary, but a neat added detail. I decided to use, Hershey's kisses, silver and blue foils, about 3-4 closed with a ribbon in a decorative basket, or tray with a sign on table saying thank you!!!

If you decide to do this, then buy a couple of bags of kisses in Big bag!

You can use some tulle to place the kisses in and tie with ribbon color.

Not necessary, and I kind of hate gifts that have the wedding couple or date on it. Like I really care about a coozie with your monogram, unless it's personalized for each guest. Last year a friend's favors were sunflower seed packets. For one, how many people are actually going to use them, and two, I love overseas and can't bring seeds back with me. I saw SO MANY favors left over. What are you going to do with all those sunflowers?!

I don't think this is necessary. We even considered not doing favors... but, I felt bad not giving our guests a little something. We're doing wild flower seeds in honor of my mom and gramma. My mom loved wild flowers and my gramma had gorgeous flower gardens. Our wedding is also at the beginning of spring.. so it just seemed fitting.
