Favors - Necessary or Not?

Favors are a fun way to say "thank you" to your guests for coming to celebrate with you! But they're also an additional expense, and as a guest... do you really care about favors that much?? Where do you stand in the great favor debate?? Are they necessary or not? 🎉 Photo from Courtney Space Events...

Not necessary, but this still seems to be a big thing where we live. Some couples do a photo booth to have the pictures double as favors. We will probably be doing edible favors like cookies or something that won't get thrown away.

    Definitely,
It makes the guests feel important! And they remember that magical moment in the ceremony

I went to one wedding without favors. Thought it was super strange. We will have 3 different types.

Not necessary at all. The fact that I just provided them w/ dinner and a party should be thanks enough. I cant tell you how many times i've seen favors left behind at weddings i've attended. I myself have done the same thing. So what i will do is get a huge pack of bubbles, buy some thank you tags and allow guests to grab them as they arrive for our ceremony (ceremony and reception will be in the same space)

Not necessary. I am working on making wood slice coasters that will act as favors and escort cards. 2 birds with one stone, and minimal cost!

Definitely not a necessity. Every wedding I've been to the favors usually end up in the garbage. Just a waste of money in my opinion.

Unless it's something that everyone will use in the future, not really. They're just additional expenses.

Not necessary, but is a nice added thing to do for your guests. I think we are going to have koozies made with our names and wedding date to hand out to everyone as favors.

Favors are not necessary at all. Most of the time they get left behind anyway. I wasn't going to do favors but my mom got some without asking so I went with it.

This seems necessary for me. Something nice and small to help your guest remember the special moment they were apart of.

Nope, not if they're something that won't be used. I never use the coozies or candles. Candy, yes I've eaten but then it's gone. I'm planning to order reusable, plastic cups with our wedding colors, names & date and our phrase "the adventure begins" that will be used for drinks instead of the disposable punch cups, and can be taken home and used for years. Plus, if there are leftovers which I'm sure there will be, they can make their way into our kitchen for daily use in married life.

I say favor, favor, favor (necessary)... it’s an awesome way of saying thank you and a nice sweet token as well. I’ve always loved getting the wedding favors at the weddings I’ve gone too.

I feel like they are necessary to those people that love keepsakes, however I have heard a lot about favors. I feel that unless you KNOW you have people that live to have a keepsake definitely. My youtube wedding planner says to be careful you don't waste your money because a lot of people always forget to take them home.

Not necessary, but I do think that it is a nice gesture to give the guest something to thank them for coming to celebrate our big day!
