Favors - Need to Have or Nice to Have?

Wedding favors are a fun way to incorporate your theme and to thank your guests for coming, but are they really a favorite for your guests? What do you think about wedding favors? Definitely a nice to have. We're looking at doing 2 options - decorative skeleton key bottle openers with a cute tag, and pretty little folding fans (because the resort our wedding is at only has A/C in the event spaces, our wedding is in July so it could get pretty warm outdoors if guest decide to explore the property).

“Nice to have”... but I think they’re a waste of money since no one ever really uses the item (unless it’s food)! I informed my family that I’d be passing on favors and they told me it was a “need to have”, so they will be footing the bill for that.

Nope. Maybe I'm a bad bride, but I think free food and drinks are just plenty, thankyee.

Nice to have but not necessary. We are having chocolate covered pretzel rods and oreos. We are also having little dog favors too

Nice to have, but I’ve heard a lot of people leave them behind or throw them away. We are personally hiring a classy caricature artist to draw our guests on card stock with our names and wedding date (that they could cut off later if desired) and printed photos via phot booth! We are hoping the entertainment doubles as “favors”

Nice to have. Skipping because we have a large guest count, and the way I see it, they’re already getting a free dinner, entertainment, and open bar.

They're nice to have as a way of saying thank you for showing your support and coming but not necessarily needed..

Need. I am fine with skipping the whole bags of stuff but a single favor that speaks to your guests about who you are as a couple, I feel is a really great thing to offer. Plus I’m traditional and it’s part of tradition imho

I think it's a nice gesture but definitely "nice" rather than "need." I'd rather put more of the budget towards the food or entertainment. If we do favors, I'm leaning towards the idea of a table with the guests choice of a packet of higher end coffee or tea with a cute sign. FH and I had our first date at a coffee shop, and he's a bit of a coffee snob and I love tea. But we may not end up doing anything at all.

I've gone to a lot of weddings and maybe half of them didn't have favors and they weren't missed. The other half, edible favors were generally appreciated. Anything else mostly got left behind. I've taken stuff home to be nice, but immediately threw into the donation box when I got home.
