Favors that don't suck?

Ok, frankly, I'm opposed to the whole idea of favors in the first place, because I think they're a waste of money that nobody will remember, and knowing our guests, I'm pretty sure they'd be much happier with an extra $300 in the booze budget, but my mother disagrees. Like, she REALLY disagrees....

Ok, frankly, I'm opposed to the whole idea of favors in the first place, because I think they're a waste of money that nobody will remember, and knowing our guests, I'm pretty sure they'd be much happier with an extra $300 in the booze budget, but my mother disagrees. Like, she REALLY disagrees. When she asked what I was planning for favors, I said that I had been intending to skip them because I couldn't even remember what the favors were for the last several weddings that I've been to, and most people don't even take them. She was HORRIFIED at the idea of skipping them. She is paying for the majority of the wedding, and I really do value her oppinion, so I guess I'm going to try to find some favors, but the budget is already really tight. Do you gals all have some suggestions that are SUPER cheap sot hat I don't have to take away from things we care about and also that people won't just throw away at the end of the night?

Maybe a side take on the seeds, is doing heart shaped bird seed people can set out for the birds? My friend did that, and I thought it was cute, and maybe more appropriate in November?

Well IMO your Mum is right, I know they always say that people don't remember favors and don't even take them...but I always do! I definitely remember them too, especially the good ones...but that might just be me. I recently went through a folder in my desk and found programs and invites to quite a few weddings I have been to in the last few years!!

Anyway I like all the ideas that have been given, we're doing chutney and it wasn't too pricey, but it was a fair bit of work! I love that we did it though and love the way they turned out, so to me it's worth it. How many people are coming to your wedding?

I vote edible favors. Smiley smile

I've only been to a few wedding and I don't remember what they had for favors but I think it's nice to include them. That is, if the budget allows it.

I say edible so that most people will eat them and like them. I'd feel bad if they left favors behind or threw them away.

I like the ideas given here. Not a fan of the seed favor but I like the kisses, candy, or cookies Smiley smile

I still haven't' decided what to do for favors, you have to be careful because they can get pricey fast ... boo!

We're planning to do little tubs of FH's bbq rub. He really likes bbq and our wedding is in a barn so it fits. I found little tins with clear tops to put it in on Papermart for pretty cheaply. Going to be mixing up a 5 gallon bucket of the stuff and divvying it out into each one. Hoping to get the spices relatively cheaply at Costco.

I was going to do these cute little burlap wrapped jars on organic jam for $2.50 but then I found a cheaper route. I'm doing little mini pies I found for 75 cents a piece and jazzing them up with ribbon.

If we even do favors (still thinking about it), I think we are going to do personalized yankee candles.

I donated to a breast cancer foundation instead of doing favors, 2 of my aunts, and my mom are all in different stages of their fight with breast cancer, so its something that is close to my family. i also got breast cancer awareness bracelets for the guests the bulk of my favor budget was the donation.

I got married earlier this year and we opted for Godiva chocolate biscuits, nicely wrapped in cellophane and a Thank You twist tie. Cost less than $1.00 each.
Our Theme was "Our Sweet Day" with his cookies bar and her chocolate buffet. The favor tied in well with our theme. Good luck!

We're having a candy bar with little bags for guests to take candy home. Our escort cards are also kind of doubling as favors...though I'm sure there will be very few guests who are actually excited about them or will even keep them (they're hockey pucks lol) but then I guess you never know!

Edible and practical favors are the best. We have our guests smores with matchbooks from www.WeddingFavors.org. You should check them out they had lots of edible favors I was considering. No one may remember your edible favors but they will definitely enjoy them. LOL
