Favors you would want

Marcia, on July 15, 2020 at 3:59 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 40
Hi all! So now that I'm having a small wedding, my budget can accomodate pricier favors ($30 or so). I want to get my committed guests a nice favor for traveling all the way to my little event during a pandemic. What's a wedding favor that you would be totally excited to get? It can be gender neutral or not (happy to separate for girls and guys), individual or by household

I agree - anything edible seems to be popular! Otherwise, anything practical: sunglasses, bottle openers, blankets, etc.

Honestly, I’d rather the extra money that would be spent on the favor go towards upgrading the meal or donating to a local charity/animal shelter. I feel like no matter how nice a favor or well-intended, any type of object is usually put aside in a closet only to take up space and eventually be thrown out. Sometimes it’s more meaningful knowing that the money is going toward an organization that would truly benefit from it rather than having an extra wine glass sitting in the back of the cupboard.

Edible, otherwise I would probably skip favors.

It’s a bummer that guest lists are having to be cut, but it’s an awesome side effect that brides are having more money to spend on other things! Instead of traditional wedding favors, we decided to use surplus money to get a manned coffee/cappuccino bar for our guests (Plus, caffeinated guests have more energy & fun!), and we will also be hiring a caricature artist for the reception – guests will get both an experience and a favor to take home!

Edibles are best. Keep in mind that unless they double as escort cards, even those get left behind. Spend the money on food/drinks/music that guests will remember.

Most favors get thrown away or put aside and never used. If you want to spend the extra money use it on something they will enjoy that day like another appetizer or upgraded food.

I love getting things like wine toppers, bottle openers, shot glasses. My FH and I did personalized stemless wine glasses and I love how they look. I’ve personally always thrown out things like candy. Not even just wedding favors, but even parties or events that I go to, I always end up throwing things like treats out

Maybe cake pops? You can make them pretty inexpensively. Boxed cake mix, frosting and melted chocolate. Or you can skip them all together!

I would spend it elsewhere than favors. They get left behind most of the time. BUT cute mini hand sanitizers are a good idea and super useful right now. Bath and Body Works you can order a 5 pack of minis for $8 and no limit (most other stores have limits now or sold out). Also have a “love” scent right now.

I like when it’s something I can eat or something I will use like a shot glass or a wine glass. I realize not everyone would appreciate the shot or wine glass if they’re not drinkers lol. But I I’ve been to weddings where this was the favor and they were personalized with the couple’s names and wedding date. It was cute.

This has been so helpful. I LOVE getting wedding favors as I guest and use them all the time, so I didn't even consider that many people don't really like taking something home and won't use it. I'm going to give some more thought to adding something fun to the wedding experience and maybe it can serve both purposes--an activity and something to take home for those who want it.

I agree with this. I would prefer upgraded food/alcohol over favors. Edible favors are good to. Given how many people are dealing with food/housing insecurity right now due to the pandemic, a donation to a charitable organization helping your local community in lieu of guest favors sounds like a great idea. You can print up a card for each table that says something like "In lieu of favors, a charitable donation has been to [insert charity]."

This is a very sweet idea. I'm lucky to be celebrating when others are struggling, and my fiance and I could start our marriage with a gift to our community.

We are doing two. Our escort card will double as a picture frame for the photo booth We will have. We will also have single serving take home boxes of cake since we are doing an hour of desserts.
