Favors?

Aida, on August 16, 2019 at 12:50 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 39

Guys, I feel bad, but I don't want to spend money on wedding favors. Is skipping out on favors considered taboo or rude? I feel like most people are just going to forget the favors or throw them away. Its like, we're feeding them, we're hosting a party, do they really need more stuff? Am I being too stingey?

No, favors are not necessary and unless they are edible many people don't take them.

Not at all. Favors aren’t in our budget so we aren’t doing them either. I personally wouldn’t care if I went to a wedding that had no favors.m, but that’s just me.

I agree with the above posters. Most favors aren’t anything anyone wants. Unless it’s food or booze, skip them. If you feel like you’re being cheap, post up a sign by your table assignments saying you made a donation to your favorite charity. This could be any amount and still be true. But honestly I don’t think anyone misses favors if they’re not given.

Skip it! The last weddings I've been to, there were no favors and it was totally fine! We are skipping this as well.

I feel like no one expects favors, so if you skip them no one will miss them!

Favors are optional, so don’t sweat it. We’re not doing them. I know that edible favors are popular but I feel like after all the food we’re providing they’re just unnecessary.

I don't think anyone will miss them. For me, we're thinking about edible favors like cupcakes in boxes, or something. But if it's not edible, we're not going to even bother.

Honestly, no one type cares that much. The only ones people seem to even want to take are the edible ones. I've been to TONS of weddings and no one complains when they are not there. They really only care about the food and alcohol!! And the actual wedding of course

Save your money to.put somewhere else!! And dont stress over it, you have more important things to stress out over, lol

Not at all. They're an unnecessary bonus. That's about it.

100000% skip them. They are a waste of money and not a single guest is going to be upset that they didn't get a favor. When I did wedding photography we had brides at every wedding that had favors begging us to take some home because so few guests actually took them.

No. Favors are unnecessary. The only reason we're doing them is because it was one of the ways I thought of to seek some Harry Potter nods in for my FH.

I went back and forth and finally decided to do favors and so many people forgot them. What a waste or money. Don’t stress about it.

Not at all!!! Some of us found favors that fit what we envisioned, and fit our budgets too. But favors are not required. I have seen plenty get left behind which makes them a waste of money. If you don't feel it's right for you, then skip it and focus on what is.

I think it's fine to skip. I had a table full of candy for people but surprisingly they didn't take much.

I saw someone do a book swap as wedding favors, they just set up a table with a place to sign a note in the book and asked guests to bring a favorite used book they loved. Everyone then got to choose a new one to go home with/read on their flights. No cost at all!

We are skipping favors and are diverting the extra money to extra hors d’oeuvres and alcohol. I have received favors from weddings and have kept none. They just seem like a waste of money. Guests remember the food, atmosphere and dancing! Just make sure they’re well-fed and that they have fun!

I had planned on skipping them but my future mother-in-law thinks that we should do them so I ordered cheap boxes from amazon and I'm going to fill them with inexpensive candy. I have to pick my battles. Smiley amazing
