Favors

Ali, on August 5, 2020 at 11:25 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 13
I am having trouble deciding what favors to give our guests. There will only be two kids one 17 and one 14 but half the guests will be coming from out of town either driving or flying. I wanted to get plane friendly wedding favors. Any ideas? And any recommendations on where to get favors from? I'm in Cary, NC. We looked over candles, koozies, playing cards.

Anything edible is usually best, otherwise maybe something practical? A deck of cards might be fun for people flying in, since cards are easy to travel with and are good for something to do when flights are delayed. Oriental Trading Company has favors you can buy in bulk for fairly cheap.

We did luggage tags that said "And so the adventure begins!" on them. You can get them personalized with your colors. You can even use them to show your guests what table they are sitting at or to help the wait staff know their menu choice.Favors 1These are the ones we got but with our colors. On the other side, we put the food choice for the waiters. This is the only picture I have of them. Good luck!!Favors 2

Something edible is usually the best. It's also ok to skip favors. That's become way more common. I would personally rather have a food item or nothing instead of a deck of cards/koozie/shot glass that will end up in some junk drawer/cabinet until I feel less guilty tossing it in a few years.

Edible favors are the way to go, especially when a fair amount of guests are traveling from out of town. Edible favors usually get eaten later that evening after the reception, or the following morning. In my experience, non-edible favors tend to get tossed or left behind regardless, but especially so when guests are travelling. I'd recommend doing anything from candy, to chocolate, to mints, to cookies, etc.

I agree with everyone edibles are the best, and aren't as much of a waste. Plus they could eat the edible while waiting for their plane or when they're on the plane.

Anything that’s not edible will lead to having a lot left behind. You’d be surprised how many people don’t take the favors home. At least if people leave edible ones, you or family members can eat them!

    You can skip favors, too.

We didn't have them, and no one noticed at all.

Hand sanitizers! No one would throw those out, especially for anyone traveling!
