Feeding overnight wedding guests

Sarah, on July 31, 2022 at 12:06 PM Posted in Planning 3 8

We are having our wedding at 2 p.m. with a reception following immediately. We are having it at a bed & breakfast owned by friends, free of charge, and having a few overnight guests. Should I provide breakfast for them the day after? If so, ideas?

Breakfast would be a nice touch if you can swing it. I'd keep it simple get some bagels, muffins/donuts, croissants, and fresh fruit along with coffee and juice. If there's a diner or Dunkin nearby you can uber eats some breakfast sandwiches. Another option would be an oatmeal and cereal bar set up.

It’s nice that you’re considering that, but if you don’t have the budget for it, don’t feel like you have to scramble to cut other items in your wedding. Most wedding guests are aware that they have to cover the cost of traveling to someone’s wedding, including any meals that they want outside of the reception or rehearsal dinner. We had some guests stay at our hotel blocks overnight, but breakfast would have been way out of our budget, and it would have required us to track who was staying at which block and what nights.

If you are not able or willing to cover that, then have them stay someplace else on the their own dime. It’s pretty rare for a couple to cover any or all travel expenses of their guests.

I have a very similar situation! Our wedding is sort of "destination" wedding because it's in an historic town about an hour away from the next city. Everyone in-state is driving, but we have a handful of guests flying in so we rented an air b&b for the entire weekend (once assigned, guests will be paying for their own rooms). Brunch is included with the stay, but there aren't enough rooms for all the guests. Also, being a very small town, food options are limited. I don't want to leave anyone feeling stranded. Is it appropriate to cultivate a list of places to eat for everyone ahead of time?

Hi if you have it to do for them and it depends also on how many guest stayed over. Plus if you didnt say this in your details don't feel obligated to you have to. And that I think that they pay for this little breakfast. You have already spent a lot to accommodate your guest all ready. Take that pressure off of you self it you can't do it.

I think coffee with muffins or pancakes would be a nice little touch, but totally not needed as you’ve covered they’re stay.
