Feeding your attendants/photographer while getting ready

Michelle, on April 27, 2021 at 2:17 PM Posted in Planning 1 18

What are your plans for making sure both guys and girls are able to eat before the wedding? Having food delivered from a local fast food place? Platters from Costco? Something else?

We are ordering platters of mini sandwiches and bringing individual bags of chips for everyone (wedding party, anyone getting ready with us, vendors, etc).

So for our wedding, our photographers didn't arrive until noon so I didn't have to worry about feeding them breakfast or lunch, but they were included in our headcount for dinner. For our bridal party, my husband and his guys went to Sheetz for breakfast and got made to order food. My brother-in-law (my husband's sister's husband) went and picked up Dunkin Donuts for me and my girls for breakfast. I ordered donuts and bagels so the girls had the choice of both. Our venue provided coffee for free. For lunch, I ordered a pizza that was delivered to the hotel where we got ready/married. I believe my husband and his guys got food from the bar within the hotel, but I could be wrong.

I've thought about this! No idea.

I think I will have a breakfast buffet / mimosa bar for the girls the morning of, and welcome my photographers to that as well. And maybe have lunch catered for all of us and the vendors who will be there all day? I'm not sure what the correct way to do this is!

My fiancé is thinking of going to lunch somewhere nearby with the guys since they won’t need a lot of time to get ready. I have a suite for getting ready so planning on doing sandwich platters, chips, fruit, etc.

And what kind of drinks are you serving? Coffee/water/juice? Every group is different but our crowd doesn’t do alcohol before dinner.

I think we are going to do a brunch themed meal because people are arriving to get ready between 8:30 and about 10, so we will do a mix of breakfast foods and sandwiches probably. I'm not 100% sure on that yet, because everyone is meeting at my mom's house, so technically they can eat their own breakfast. But my best friend wants to do a mimosa bar so we have to have something to eat so we don't all get drunk. For drinks, we are doing the mimosa bar that will include non-alcoholic choices because I have some girls who don't drink/might be pregnant at that time. So instead of champagne, there will be juices and other options that will still taste good. Plus the usual waters and sodas for those people who want that instead. For one of my friend's weddings that I was in, we just stopped at a Dunkin Donuts and ordered bagels and drinks for breakfast, but we were running around a lot to get ready for her day.

My venue provides snacks and beverages in the getting ready suites, but since my bridesmaids and I will be there longer for hair/makeup, I'll probably pick up a light lunch for us as well. FH and groomsmen will probably be fine with just the snacks provided since they'll just roll in, get dressed, and head straight to our first look!

We have a fabulous french bakery in town that I used to work at so I am thinking we will place an order for some morning pastries (sweet & savory) from them. It is the same baker who is making our wedding cake so it would be super easy to pick up both at the same time. We might also get an order of bagels and cream cheese from one of our other favorite local spots to provide something of a little more substance to snack on. We have a 2pm ceremony planned so that should tide us over until the reception.

One of my bridesmaids, and one of the groomsmen have memberships to costco/sams. So we're just going to do a group trip and pick up snacks for the morning of!

I like all the above posters ideas on sandwiches and pastries. I once was part of a bridal party where the MOB ordered us a pizza while we got ready. We were low energy by the time we took bridal party pictures and the photographer noted it. Sadly, we couldn't help it.

Are you just having cake or juice later? Some bp may have preferred snacks to bring. No alcohol, and eat the meal is what every bride I know has done. Since we had an evening wedding, most of us had gone in to town some place for lunch.

We will have hair + makeup artists will arrive at around 8/9am and photographers and videographers from about midday so we will have breakfast platters out from the morning onward. We will have about 15 people at my parents’ house and 6 at my place (where the Groom is getting ready with his family) so we will probably dash to Costco the day before to buy platters. That’ll be the easiest way to avoid having to make anything up ourselves.

My side had a pizza party. My parents were actually going to go out and get the pizza, but my HMUA was also a good friend, and her husband was there with her. He is the kind of wonderful person who will give you the shirt off his back, and he *insisted* on running errands for us. (AND THEN WOULDN'T TAKE A PIECE OF PIZZA... so I'm going to get him pizza when we can be in person again.)

The venue had provided us with drinks and we had also brought a snack platter, so did my MOH, because she loves to feed people... we had a whole buffet BEFORE the wedding, lol.

I do not know what DH and his party had, but they were at his parents' place, so I assume food was on hand. Mostly because my ILs are New York Italians, and yes, that stereotype came from somewhere. Food is offered to all. And it's always *delicious*.

I hadn't thought about this but probably some sandwich, veggie and fruit trays. I won't want anything too heavy and we plan on drinking quite a bit so the fruit will help to absorb the alcohol lol

Chips, donuts, fruit baskets, water, juices, coffee. Our vendors don't do alcohol before dinner either. Our photographers (we're having 2) and our DJ don't do alcohol at all.
