Feel like eloping

Anyone else so overwhelmed with planning a wedding and the cost involved? I'm exhausted by it all lately... wrecked car to boot.... and tons of subsequent arguments between us do to the stress. I just want a beautiful say and amazing memory not all of this stress.

Yes, a few times. Mostly due to money. But I know it'll be worth it in the end

Yes... I've only been engaged for 3 months and my wedding is a year away. The stress is unbelievable and I'm also getting my masters degree at the same time. I'm ready to just elope!

I bet girl. Life is happening... and the wedding feels like a lot of planning and extravagance for one day.... just silly when I think about it. But I also know how important this is to his family and my family.... and I know when we are much much older we will have these sweet memories... constantly back and forth about it.

I've had so many moments like this. Especially for the fact that we had to change our wedding date two times. He just got done with college and I have one semester left. So, it is a bit harder to do it all. We have had arguements but it tends to work out and we realize it isn't as big of a deal for the fact that things will get done eventually and keep in mind all that really matters is us getting married. I agree it is stressful but it does get better. I have about 20 days until the big day and it feels like it has gotten easier or less stress. So, I'm enjoying it now.

Probably not helpful to you but we purposely eloped so we could avoid the stress of planning a traditional wedding and the stress it puts on relationships. All of this will be worth it once you finally say "I do". Hang in there.. remember that no one's wedding day is perfect just as life is not perfect. I think the only back and forth my husband and I had was on our wedding day.. he was really stressed about everything happening right and he had to button up my dress four times, couldn't figure out how to tie his tie.. even though these things were no problem before. What is important is that you two are in it together. You will have wonderful memories and the day will be blissful.

I suppose that's a great perspective. Even though there might be savings it is still a large cost overall.. thank you for the feedback

    Hey Misty,

I TOTALLY feel you. My FH and I were planning to do the whole shabang with a wedding in our hometown of St. Louis, MO, but with all the stress and money it was going to cost, it was not worth it. We decided to have an intimate ceremony with only our parents and close friends in Colorado. Now that we've gone that route, we're saving a lot of money and we're doing something we actually want to do! For the first time during my wedding planning, I've been happy with how things are going. Hopefully if you go this route, you'll start to feel a little less stressed. Smiley smile

Colorado with a handful of the ones you love sounds amazing. We live in Nashville. The city is BOOMING... costs have gone way up. We considered moving it to just outside the city... but with as many of his family members as are flying in, we just had to keep it simple for them. This weekend helped a lot, we worked on crafts and got a ton done without spending more money. . Hopefully that momentum helps.

I'm so sorry you're feeling like that Smiley sad maybe take a night or two off from planning, and have a fun date night with no wedding-related conversation topics? Pretty soon (once you get to 1-2 months before the wedding) you probably won't be able to find the time for that, so maybe just focus on enjoying each other's company for now and trust that all the wedding stuff will fall into place once it's closer Smiley smile good luck!

If it were up to my honey we would have just eloped as well. Not from stress but he wants to save money in the worst way. I honestly could not think of a better way to celebrate us though. Its a once in a lifetime thing. Keep that in mind. Obviously do what you feel is best. And it will be what you need it to be. Sorry it is rough right now. Stay positive and know that this too fall pass.

Great idea. I think we underestimated how much time it would take to plan somce we are paying for everything and don't have a planner.... time. Hopefully the 4th of July will act as a fun bonding day

Girl. Same page. He is a money money money guy. Focused on every penny. Ans I'm a saver too but not that extreme. It just sucks the joy out of it.
