Feeling a little down.. Newlywed date night ideas needed

Emly, on June 19, 2020 at 12:04 PM Posted in Married Life 0 9

This post may be a little TMI but I just need a little reassurance and maybe a few ideas.

Ill try to make this as short as possible but we got married on June 6th and it was the most wonderful day ever! Then June 8th came and I started to develop a really nasty cold sore (thank you stress..) and it is slowly healing but this meant no kissing for us newly weds.. I haven't kissed my husband in 11 days Smiley sad (other than a little side peck). June 11th I was in the ER for a bladder infection and In a ton of pain this continued to worsen until this Tuesday when I went back in and the infection has spread to my kidneys... even more excruciating pain.. so as you could probably tell we haven't really been able to have much bedroom time since the 11th.. and I haven't had any energy to do anything (house, cleaning, cooking or otherwise)

On top of all this with my infections I obviously had a fever and because of this my work wouldn't allow me back until I had a COVID test. We knew the test would come back negative, the doctor even told me it was ridiculous my employer is even requiring it, but none the less remained cautious and husband and I tried to keep our distance.. no hugging.. no cooking together.. nothing.. worst part of it all is yesterday was my birthday and I was in so much pain and hadn't gotten the covid results back yet so i wasn't even able to get a hug or anything..

Thankfully i got the results this morning (it is negative) and I gave my husband the biggest hug ever when I found out, that made me feel a bit better. But I'm still in a lot of pain and my lip is taking its sweet time getting over the cold sore.

So here's were I need your help; today is my husbands birthday and I want to make it special. But I am just feeling a bit heartbroken on how distant we have had to be since we got married. So I need any suggestions on a newlywed date night ideas you may have. When you and your spouse are feeling a little down or distant what makes you feel better??

Any ideas or kind words would help TIASmiley heart

    We like doing picnics!

so during the time where we weren't allowed to be out during shelter in place, we just spread a blanket and had an at home picnic in the living room

I would cook him a delicious meal, get dressed up (both of you) and have a phone free evening. Take a walk at twilight. Embrace. Watch a movie neither of you has seen. Go back to when you were courting. And since it's your "first" date, you needn't feel bad about not kissing/bedroom. (Wouldn't want him to get the "wrong" idea, lol jk). Build anticipation.

PPs gave you all the advice you need. These things happen, and it will pass. ::hugs:: hang in there and try not to stress about his birthday, I'm sure he just wants you to be healthy, so a little bit of waiting will not be the end of the world. Besides, you have forever Smiley winking Smiley heart

Congratulations on your wedding, belated happy birthday to you, and happy birthday to your hubby!

Awwww I’m so sorry you’ve had to deal with so much! Stress really can take a toll on our bodies. The other PPs have given some great ideas. I’m sure you can make it a great birthday for him. I’d be willing to bet all he wants is to spend the day with you.
As a side note, I love that your birthdays are a few days apart. Mine and my FH’s birthdays are 10 days apart. Mine is Feb 2nd, his is Feb 12th and our dating anniversary is Feb 18th. February is a busy month for us! Especially when you also add in Valentine’s Day and my grandfathers birthday on the 24th!
I think a picnic or a nice dress up dinner at home would be great. Just make it a day/evening for the two of you and he will be happy.

We had a really fun date a few weeks ago inspired by a British dating show called Dinner Date lol. It’s a show where someone has to pick blind dates based on just menus written by the mystery daters. I wrote up 3 potential menus, my husband picked one and then I made a super elaborate dinner. It was extra special because I almost never cook! We got all dressed up and it was really fun. Sorry your first few weeks of marriage have been pretty stressful. I’m sure anything you do to celebrate your husbands birthday will be appreciated - the most important thing is getting to spend time together.

I'm so sorry you've been sick!

I agree with everyone - dress up, do something fun, and act like you've just met!

    Hope everything heals up soon!

My honeys birthday the first year we were together I did a little scavenger hunt indie the house. I made clues like, looking in the mirror could never be more clearer (goofy stuff). And at the end I had an engraved postcard and other gifts for his birthday. He loved it. In your case, a trail of clothes....
