Feeling lost. Need help. Please!!!

Hello all. First of all congratulations🎉 to all you lovely women who are currently fiancés and also wives 💍❤️. Right now, I'm feeling very overwhelmed and lost. My FH proposed to me last year on our birthday 08/2021 (yes I know crazy🤯 same date, year, and all lol) and at our gender reveal. Which btw we have a handsome baby boy. So now that I'm able to plan this wedding- I don't know how to start or where to begin. I would like to know how are you or how did you ladies plan and begin to plan your wedding? Open to all opinions/suggestions/advice. We're planning on inviting around 150 ppl. Thanks in advance!

Hey there! Congratulations on your engagement and the baby boy! My husband and I started planning our wedding by first narrowing down where we wanted to get married (our families live in two different states). Once we did made a decision, we then discussed budget and estimated guest count, and then started researching venues within our budget that could hold at least the number of guests we planned to invite. We toured venues, met with photographers and DJs, and then started booking. One thing that helped keep us on track with planning was the checklist on The Knot (WeddingWire has a similar one), along with the budget tracker. These forums are also a great resource for asking questions and help with planning. Consider what style of venue you'd like (beach, ballroom, barn, etc), and start searching for those types of venues in the area that you want to get married in. Tour at least a few different options, and don't be afraid to ask questions and take your time to think about it. Happy wedding planning!

First is finances. Figure how much each of you can contribute towards the wedding

Second is venue and date. Everything else pretty much seems to come after you've locked in date/venue. You could probably skip this step if you want to hire a wedding planner. I think they can help find a venue, but I'm honestly not 100% sure.
    Happy planning!

I think the very first thing you need to decide on is how much you can afford to spend. That will determine how many of those 150 people you can really invite <grin>

Next is to make a list of the MUST haves for your day. Buffet? Outdoor? Casual/formal? Price out venues - make sure you try to compare them equally, for instance if a venue is all inclusive make sure you add on the extras to the NON inclusive venue so you can get a clearer and more accurate idea of costs involved. It is also just as important to check out reviews of both the service provided and the quality of food - better yet to preview the food. (Ours is at a well known restaurant, and we have eaten there several times before we had even thought about a wedding)

Once you nail down the venue and have that date locked in, then you can go forward with the rest of the "stuff".

Have fun planning - congrats on the engagement and the beautiful new addition to your family.

Ahhh 😱 seems like so much but I know we’ll get it done. I appreciate you all so much and will use your messages as references/checklist😅. Happy planning ladies and have a healthy and safe New Year’s🎉
