Females only please... bikini or tankini for honeymoon?

We leave for our honeymoon Saturday so I've been shopping for attire. I used to be over 170 pounds and have struggled with dieting due to my father passing away, stress, having a kid, etc. I've lost 30 pounds but I'm still not sure if I should get in a bikini or take tankini's to cover up. I've...

I used to be over 170 pounds and have struggled with dieting due to my father passing away, stress, having a kid, etc. I've lost 30 pounds but I'm still not sure if I should get in a bikini or take tankini's to cover up. I've attached some pictures (which was really difficult to do) so please no judging and just honest opinions. We are going to Jamaica. Thank you!

Congrats on the weight you have lost... wear whatever makes you feel comfortable (no matter what anyone else says if you don't feel comfortable you won't look as good as you will when you are comfortable).

I haven't worn a bathing suit in years so have been stressing about this leading up to our honeymoon this summer too. As the other ladies have said the high- waisted suit trend going on right now is amazing (and my FH loves this look too so thats a bonus). I also bought a couple cute one piece suits this summer that didn't have the swim team feel that I think of with one pieces. Lots of good options out there for those of us that are self conscience.

I agree, you'd look cute in a bikini, just not that bikini. Look for a high waist bottom like everyone else suggested.

You look great! high waist bottom with the top of your choice is the way to go!!! Show off those upper abs and the high waist gives extra curves. You may not have time order but they have them everywhere now from target to old navy, urban outfitters, american apparel, jcpenney, nordstrom etc.

You look fine. I don't even think you need a high waist bottom just something with a regular rise instead of low rise might make you more comfortable

I vote for the high waist bottoms. I completely understand where you're coming from with the weight gain and loss issue. Last summer having gone from a size 4 to a 14 I was so afraid to wear a bathing suit and had no idea what would look good on me. I tried high waisted bottoms and they are amazing! Ultimately I picked up a retro inspired one piece however that was what I felt the best in. Definitely make sure you feel good in the suit you pick.

    You look fabulous!

i am 170 lbs (the heaviest I have ever been but I am trying to accept it!), and I just purchased (online no less!) a high waisted bottom and a bikini top from Victoria's Secret. I like theirs because their tops are done in bra sizes, and I wear a 34E/34DDD. It came on Thursday and I love it. I mean, it doesn't hide all of my imperfections, but I think it looks a little more mature/grown up than the string bikinis of my past do.

But do whatever you are comfortable in. There are some super sexy tankinis...heck there are some super sexy one pieces out there! You just gotta do you! Love you and the rest of it will come easy!

Wear what makes YOU comfortable. I will say this, on my honeymoon there were people who were 10 times your size rocking a bikini. It's what they were comfortable in. You look great! As long as you are happy and your husband thinks you look great then don't worry about anyone else.

I'm always pro bikini. I'm not 120lbs anymore (I'm currently 162lbs) but I've always found bikinis more comfortable than tankinis. If you're really self-conscious go with a high waisted. The one you have is fine, but I think you need to either loosen the straps on the bottom or go a size larger.

I vote Bikini also! You should look at the higher waisted bottoms. My bottoms are not the retro high but they are not the string bikini. What do you like better?

We have a very similar middle going on - you look amazing and should be damn proud. With that being said. I wear a string bikini and even pull the bottoms up to be a thong. You got this girl. (love what the other ladies have said, I might try play with the high waisted style too).

I love the suit that Mrs. T put up (and the suit that AlexisMO82 is wearing). I think the high waisted bottoms are fantastic, and they look good on everyone. What's really important is that you walk out on the beach feeling confident and beautiful. Because you're asking everyone's opinion, I have a suspicion that you're not feeling really confident in the bikini bottoms you posted. The very last feeling you want to feel when you're supposed to be having fun on the beach is self-consciousness or insecurity. You want to have fun and be able to move around freely without worrying about your bathing suit. Have a blast on your HM.

Every body is a bikini body. I wear a Brazilian cut bikini most of the time because I like to have a tan with nearly no tan lines. That said, I current weight 190 and lost 100 pounds a few years back. I still have loose skin on my stomach that will not go away without surgery. Do I give any fucks? No. Do I have a great tan? Hell yes.

Love the skin you're in. Rock a bikini.

As someone else who is plus sized, I say do what you feel comfortable in. Your FH will love you regardless and he'll have seen all of you by that point anyway. If comfort dictates a tankini, go for it. And besides, other than FH it is doubtful you will ever see those people ever again.
