Fiancé not coming at end of bridal shower?

Anna, on May 23, 2019 at 10:16 AM Posted in Parties and Events 0 30
So it may be a regional thing but all my cousins and friends showers I’ve gone to the groom always shows up at the end with flowers for the bride to be. Honestly this one tradition was the only thing I was looking forward to at my own shower, but now he probably isn’t going to be able to because he has to work! He has a new job and can’t really request off and I’m crushed.

Has anyone had their fiancé not show up at the end of the bridal shower? How did it go and how did you feel about it?

I honestly didn't even know that was a thing, it hasn't happened at any of the showers I have been to and my FH isn't going to be attending mine. I am sorry you're disappointed! But I wouldn't let it bother you too much, the bridal shower is about you! No need for your fiance to be there, in my opinion.

    Aw I'm sorry! That stinks.
It's not a popular thing in my region, all my friends had their dad's or brothers show up at the end if anything and typically with some kind of gift. 🤷

Thanks for your input! Must be a regional or cultural thing. I’ve been to about 10 showers and at every single one the groom shows up with flowers, so I’ve never been to one and the groom does not do it! I feel like my family is going to question why he’s not there. I know it’s ridiculous but it’s really bringing me down Smiley sad thanks for letting me vent and your feedback

That's a sweet idea to have your dad come at the end!

I wasn't aware this was a thing until my FH told me he would be there at the end. I was like good I will need help taking down decor and carrying presents to the car. lol

What a cute tradition! I've actually never heard of it before either (I'm in the Chicago area, so maybe it's regional), but I agree that it's sweet. Smiley smile

Maybe you can do something nice together after the shower or you could wink wink nudge nudge him to have flowers and a nice card delivered if that's in your budget. Getting flowers is always so much fun. Smiley smile

Thanks for your input and kind words! It’s not really about the flowers it’s about him being there and supporting me. It’s okay I’ll deal with it some how. It’s hard I just found out he now has to work from 12pm to 9:30pm and I work 8 to 5 so I’m never going to see him Smiley sad

Lol my dad came to eat the leftover food at both my showers lol! The first one I was in the middle of opening my presents when I saw him sneak in and grab a plate!

Yeah, my dad will probably do that too. He will show up in a ratty t-shirt and his work jeans with holes. His excuse will be "I'm just here to carry things". I can see it now.Smiley laugh Smiley heart

I've been to showers where both happened. Tbh I always thought it was so they could help load the car. Lol.

Hey! My FH and I are in the same situation! He couldn’t take the day off work so our plan was for him to stop by for the first hour or so of the shower to say hello and thank you to everyone. I think guests are more likely to leave early than come late so he’ll have more time to spend with everyone. Although now he literally just accepted a new job so we’re back to square one 😂😅 he might be able to stop by before or after and he might not. Hopefully most people will understand that he’s gotta work (especially with a wedding to pay for lol).

I live in the south and usually see the groom show up but have been to some showers where that didn't happen. I think it's okay for him not to be there!

I've seen it done and seen it not done. Honestly, I think it's the most awkward moment of the whole party when they walk in. As if you hadn't been on awkward display the entire time opening your gifts, now you have this too? I know it's supposed to be sweet and romantic, but it's almost gag-worthy and scripted.

My husband had his bachelor party (weekend at the lake) the day of my bridal shower. I told him the only reason he needed to show up is if he was hungry on the drive home. He opted out. And it was fine.

This isn't a thing where I live... It's not a tradition at all to bring flowers haha. I have never seen this. If anything the FH comes to load up all the gifts and take them home. If my FH has to work he has to work. My dad will probably come and help with the gifts then. My FH is pretty much always working (night shift) so I really wouldn't even have been aiming that he'd be off for whatever day my shower will be!

I only invited my husband so he could load the car! 😂

I've been to a bunch of showers where the groom didn't show up! Either it just wasn't the plan, or he's busy, or even on his bachelor party.

Do you have friends or family who are going to be in-town for the shower? If so maybe you can do a small dinner the night before or after the shower where your fiancé can attend, so it still feels like he's sharing in the special event! Or you could record a video message from your fiancé to play at the shower saying he wishes he could be there!

The showers I've been to, the groom and some of his groomsmen show up to carry all the gifts into the car(s) lol. I've never seen them bring flowers.
