Fiancé says he doesn’t want to spend the money on a photographer

We are in the early stages of planning and I have been doing research on photographers because I know the best vendors always book the quickest. I found one that I really like and that I believe is super reasonably priced ($1675 with engagement session and travel included). Well when I showed him her website and said that I have been talking with her and she is great he said that is way to much and that he wants some nice pictures but we have had some pictures done in the past and we hardly ever look at them so he thinks we should only spend a few hundred. I told him that photography is very important to me and that we may not look at them all the time but I want to have them to look back on in 50 years. He just doesn’t seem to get it. Has anyone else been in a similar situation?

Yes, this is very reasonable. Where do you live? Because these are not the prices where I live (Miami). I wish that's what my photographer cost!! That's not even what videographers cost...
My fiance and I made a list of a couple of things that were must haves for each of us, and we were willing to spend a little more of these important things, and save money in other areas. So we tried to balance the budget out that way. We were able to get deals in other areas, or we were ok with spending less $$ on other things.

My fiancé is the same way we are going to have a small wedding and he only wants a photographer for 3 hours. As he think people can take photos themselves. It’s going to be so awful. We will have a small wedding of 50 people but still I want it to be special and he only thinks about money.
