Fiancé won’t help with wedding planning

My fiancé and I are getting married October 2022. We have the venue, caterer, bartender, priest, and photographer already. My fiancé and I are getting married October 2022. We have the venue, caterer, bartender, priest, and photographer already. I’ve been the one to search and find all these people and I’m the one who talks to all of them. My fiancé won’t get any of the things I ask of him done in the time it needs and I’m feeling overwhelmed and lost. I don’t know how to deal with it all by myself. When I talk about wedding plans, he just goes along with what I say or want and when I ask him to do something all I get is an “ok” response. It’s just like he doesn’t care at all. I wanted to elope so it’s not like I wanted to
Do all of this.

That’s what I want to do but then it’s just something that needs to get done last minute.

No I don’t. Which is honestly a big worry of mine. His parents have always babied him so he doesn’t even think of certain thins because they’ve always been taken care of for him

Doesn’t care. But putting him in charge of music WOULD be so helpful.

This is honestly more concerning than anything wedding planning related. He's not going to suddenly change when you guys get married and that sounds like a lot is going to be put on you. What if he doesn't care if the kids get a bath or not before bed or what pjs they wear, will he still help? There are soooooo many things in life that aren't fun or actually enjoyable to do at all that still need to be done. Can you trust him in general to pull his weight and be your partner? If not, then having a serious talk about expectations and possibly even going through some marriage counseling can help.

Girl, think long and hard about what you want and need in a PARTNER. You don't need another person you have to constantly plan and prepare everything for, this treatment is reserved for your eventual children. And then have a serious talk with your fiancé, because it can't go on like this, you're not supposed to do it all alone. I mean, that's kind of the point of getting married - sharing everything, the good and the bad, and knowing that your spouse will support you no matter what.

Thank you for all the advice! I talked to him about how I was feeling and he’s agreed to take over music and house keeping! Which is a huge relief as those were 2 things that kept getting away from me. I won’t step in and help so it’s all him. I’m anxious but I’m sure he’ll do great

Just don't do it. If the deadline gets missed, it's on him.

My fiance' is doing the same thing. I am asking God to give me the strength to endure this task. I have learned to talk to him about it at certain times and to not over power him with hundreds of tasks or questions. I run things by him and he seems to be okay with it. He told me that all the planning stresses him out. The one thing I am making sure of is us sharing the wedding bill.

I am learning to do everything. The thing he has to do is give me his family names in order to complete the guest list. If he doesn't none of his family and friends will be there. You have to move accordingly. If he doesn't mind eloping then elope. At least that hopefully won't be a lot of work.

God bless you. You are not alone. I know exactly what you are going through!

Omg I just read your post out loud to my fiancé and he said “did you write that?” Because I feel the EXACT same way!!! It’s so tough and overwhelming to plan such a huge event. It’s not like we are wedding planners, we have full time jobs and other things to take care of. I also wanted to elope/ small gathering but he insisted on a huge wedding. And now I’m doing all the work! I feel you girl. Hang in there! All you can do is express to him how you feel and hope he gets better. I wish you luck!

That's all we can do. I kinda let him have it last night. He hides himself in work to avoid things he doesn't want to deal with.
He thinks he's ok cuz he's working and all men should work.
So I'm thinking is this how we are going to solve our problems in the future? You have to look at the ENTIRE PICTURE. Hopefully God is working on us to work this out with great results. God bless you girl!
