fifty flowers

Weddingbliss, on April 12, 2014 at 1:41 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 19

I was planning on ordering my flowers from costco, but I heard of fifty flowers. They seem like a good company. I wanted to know if anyone has ordered from them? if so what was your experience with either costco or fifty flowers, which one would you recommend?

They're both fine except Costco has areas they don't ship to. Some flowers perish in shipping like gerberas and callas are notorious for melting in shipments so def order heartier buds

I think the biggest problem is that by the time they are delivered, if they ARENT good,, you're our of luck. Flowers are tough to ship, especially in the heat.

@Celia True, but I can get 400 rose stems and 100 babies breath for 400 dollars. That is perfect for my budget!

There is a local Fifty Flowers store so you wouldn't have to worry about the whole shipping, as with cosco.

I too am probably going to order from Fifty Flowers because of the cost and if they sub flowers, I honestly will not mind. I am going to talk to the local grocery store however before I decide to see if they can get me a better deal. Payless/Kroger stores have pretty decent flower departments.

I actually used both Costco AND Fifty Flowers for my wedding - both sets of flowers turned out beautiful and lasted for several days after the wedding. I wouldn't say one was any better than the other.

Definitely read the care instructions on the webpage to understand how they will be shipped, what they will look like when the arrive, and what to do to rehydrate them. The day they arrived it took about 3 hours to trim all the stems and get them in flower food /water. All my blooms were then huge and lush after they got a drink!

@Jules how soon before your wedding did you have them delivered to your house? I was thinking of having them brought in 2-3 days before my wedding day? What do you recommend?

Hydrangeas from Costco - approximately one hour after I got them trimmed and in flower food/water.

They recommend 2 days before - I actually had to do 4 because of the holiday falling right before my wedding, but they still lasted fine. As proof - my garden roses from Fifty Flowers - the first pick is the day the arrived (again after a few hours of food/water), the second pic is the day of my wedding.

ETA - I got married in January so finding somewhere cool to store them wasn't an issue, make sure you have a cooler/fridge somewhere to store them!

Just make sure you have help - I had a team of people helping me from, cut, and arrange. And somewhere cool (think like 50 degrees) to store!

@Jules thanks so much! I appreciate all the advice! I will have about 10 people helping me, But For the centerpieces they have to be in mason jars, so Idk if I should do that in advance or have them do it the day off. Also you look amazing in the picture!

No problem!!! Reading the care instructions is key - if I hadn't I would have totally freaked out when I saw the roses when the showed up. Smiley smile

    And thank you!

Hi Ladies! I just wanted to let you know, and I think a few of you have said this, we do schedule delivery a few days in advance so your flowers will have time to bloom open. They will appear tiered and thirsty when they arrive!! If you receive any bad flowers, call us right away and we can offer care tips, can sometimes re-ship flowers overnight, or provide a refund, we just ask that you take a few photos to show us! We are here to help so feel free to call or chat us with any questions or concerns. Also, most of our brides make their bouquets and centerpieces the day before, as long as they have plenty of water...For example, your mason jar centerpieces can be made before, just keep enough water in the jars so your flowers can continue to drink! You can even create your bouquet but keep the stems un-wrapped, then place in a vase or jar with a bit of water. But like I said, just let us know if you have any questions! Smiley smile Thanks!
