Flowers! Ridiculously expensive! I'm cutting them down as much as possible... centerpieces will be candles instead.

We are not doing either a bouquet or garter toss because they are not meaningful to us. We really don't care what our guests wear to the wedding.

Cocktail hour. I understand why we are having it, so everyone isn't bored for the hour after the ceremony while we do pictures but it is really the only thing I am not to concerned about.

What everyone calls "traditions". I am not interested in the special family dances, garter toss, bouquet toss, and all of those "traditional" things.

Things we don't care about, are not including, didn't miss that were skipped at other weddings:

    Hashtags..we aren't Instagram influencers
Proposal boxes..expensive to ship and a text works
Speeches/champagne toasts..no one wants to hear them and neither of us are into public speaking. Most people hate champagne anyway
Reception intros..redundant with the officiant saying the exact same 10 minutes prior
MC..guests are intelligent and can and do easily figure out what is happening without announcements every few minutes
Signs..outside of food/bar selections, everything is self explanatory and we trust that adults are intelligent
Being told that guests will be upset if you don't have this or you will have major regrets unless you do that...unless an etiquette breach is occurring, everything else is optional based on the couple's decision
Choreographed first dance..nothing wrong with the classic swaying

Can I say all of it? 🙈
I'm genuinely surprised by my lack of enthusiasm, as I had been collecting wedding magazines for years, I'd set myself a dress budget and said I wanted loveheart sweets as favours. I even went to wedding shows for crying out loud. 😂
I guess it goes to show that when you have the right partner, everything else rather pales by comparison.

Signs. Why are these such a big deal? What signs do I even need? A sign for the bar? Everyone is going to be able to clearly see where the bar is. A cutesy quote sign? I don't get this, either. Unless the wedding is somewhere there are multiple function rooms and signs are necessary to tell guests what room to go in for the event, I just don't get the sign fixation.

Hashtags or Snapchat GeoFilters. I guess at 100+ person weddings where at least 50% of the guests are on Instagram or Snapchat, these are cute, but I think I have one friend who actively uses Snapchat (heck, I don't even use Snapchat!) and two who use Instagram.

Save the dates. The only time these make sense to me is when you have a destination wedding where basically the entire guest list will have to travel, or your wedding is during a holiday time when travel will be difficult. Otherwise, you're sending the invitations 4-6 weeks out anyway, right? I don't know of a single industry that allows people to request time off from work any earlier than that.

My guests free time... I know they think I should organise their stay from A to Z when they come for a week, but... I can't, especially before the wedding...
