Filling out Wedding License

Renee, on May 30, 2019 at 3:25 PM Posted in Married Life 0 9
Our officiant wrote his name on our marriage license but he didn't sign it. He lives a few hours away so we want to avoid having to bring the license to him. Is there any other way we can fill it out that's still valid? I know we can self-solemnize but his name is written where our names would go..

Has he ever filled out a marriage license before? I'd call your county and see if it can be fixed or if you need a new one.

I don't think there is any way around this. Can you meet halfway? Or have him come to you since it was his mistake?

I might be wrong, but I thought the officiant signed it after the wedding? Edit: Just read you already had your wedding. Oops. Ya, I can't think of a way around it. I'd call your officiant and figure out the best way to handle it.

Everything the others said plus you might want to check with the clerk's office where you got the license that it's even still valid. We had to turn ours in no later than 5 business days after the wedding ceremony.

    Thanks,
We have 2 months after the ceremony to turn in the license so we have time to get his signature if we need to. I will give them a call and ask!

Considering the kind of document this is, you'll probably just have to go on a road trip.

Assuming you hired and paid this person and they didn't complete the job, I think they should be willing to meet you at least halfway.
I'd contact your clerks office and make sure they need to sign it. Then contact the officiant.
I'm not trying to be/sound mean, I just think they would want to complete the job and make you happy.

Fedex it to him overnight & include a return envelope & label & have him Fedex it back. Boom. Done. 2 days tops.

We forgot ours in the hotel room and our officiant is from the other side of the country so we wound up mailing it to him with a return envelope addressed to the court. It all worked out.
