Finding the perfect venue

Jessica, on June 6, 2019 at 5:03 PM Posted in Planning 0 22
How many venues did you visit before deciding?

We have already visited 2 and have 2 more visits already set up over the next week or two. We are trying to see as many as possible so we know all of our options but at the same time, we also think we’ve already found our dream spot (have actually known for months, even before the visit!). Do we continue to look around or just book?!?

(This is the location for both ceremony and reception)

I looked at like a dozen reception venues before I booked even though I already knew of one I liked and wanted already. I did that to see my options in case there was one I liked better but it makes it obvious which one you like most. So after seeing what you feel is enough venues then go ahead and book Smiley smile

We looked at 2. After the second one, we walked outside, talked for like 2 seconds, and then went back in to book it. We love our venue, and it's the one decision I haven't had even an inkling of doubt since deciding. I had other tours booked, but canceled them. You're gonna find great things at most venues, otherwise they wouldn't stay in business. You just have to know which parts are most important to you.

Also, you can ask the venue you think you want what dates they have available around the time you want to get married, if they have lots, that can ease your mind too.

We visited 5, but looked at 30+ online all over the state! I thought 5 was a good number, it took about a month of tours. Then we looked at SO many online so I felt we toured the ones we really liked.

Lol we visited 9 and picked #8. As soon as we saw our venue we knew we wanted it but had already set up #9 right afterwards so just went anyway. We emailed them when we got home to book it. If you guys know what you want and it checks all (or most) of your boxes.. I'd say go for it!

We knew right away that the second venue we visited was the one! We booked right away, but I definitely think it’s smart to look around a little more just so you know all your options!

We looked at 4. They were the only ones in our budget that we both loved but ended up picking the last one.

We visited 6, but reached out to more. We narrowed it down to our top 3 easily and narrowed it down to the one we picked due to these factors: price, prettiness, responsiveness of staff, and convenience for various reasons.

We had a list of venues we wanted to check out, but only made it to two.
We liked the first one a lot but it was over our budget by like 20K. And to be honest, I’m glad that happened! The minute we walked into the second venue, we knew it was the one for us. It’s everything we were looking for plus some!

Booked #4, then saw 6 or maybe 7 more. I reached out to 30+ through phone calls and emails about pricing. ONLY reason we looked after booking is because the venue we booked had a refundable deposit and because it only came with tables and chairs. Everything else is up to us. Many pros and cons of it but we feel it will work best for our day even with the added work.

We visited 10 (in a little over a week's time), but daughter KNEW #2 was it from the minute we walked through the door. However, she wanted to be absolutely certain, so we visited them all. Daughter put together a spread sheet including the cost of EVERYTHING she wanted for each of the 10 venues, so she could do an "apples to apples comparison." Although it initially seemed like there were big differences in cost, when she included the costs of each thing she'd need to add at each venue, we were pretty surprised that for 9 of the 10, the variance was less than $1000. So, even though on paper venue #2 seemed a little more expensive, when she did a true comparison having the wedding there was about $800 more than if she picked the least expensive (which she didn't like). Once we knew there really wasn't much of a price difference, the decision was super easy. Daughter took SIL and both dads to see it, and everyone agreed it was perfect. Smiley heart

If you really like one particular venue, I say go ahead and book it! We only considered two before deciding to choose our church

I did a lot of research on pricing and packages offered prior to visiting any venues. Where I am from we either have pricey $4k + venues or barns. FH did not want a barn venue. We had a new venue opening up this summer downtown and is very vintage. I visited it with my family and FMIL, then brought FH back. He loved and we put a deposit down.

I found my dream spot at the first place I looked. I made an appointment for another spot but it didn’t give me the vibes my venue did. I didn’t look any further.

7 hotels... and we immediately decided on the 7th one as soon as we saw it. We’re doing a DW in Vegas, so last month we flew out and did hotel tours in the mornings over 3 days. But being out of town, it was necessary for us to look at all 7 venues we scheduled appointments with.

In your case, if you love it, then go for it! That way you don’t stress yourself with having to decide between multiple locations.

For our DW, we took a 4-day vaca and visited 12! For our local reception, we visited 5 but the very first one we found accidentally when we got the to area early—that was the one.

Definitely ask about dates if you can’t get a venue off your mind! I had a venue in mind and it was the second one we toured. I loved it but wanted to see other ones before committing. They still had my date available but then two weeks later it got booked by someone else, I was so heartbroken. I still got the venue but just not the date. 😂😂

One. We pushed our engagement back about a year so I had been looking online. I saw it in person and knew it was the one after all my research.
When you know you know. Like buying the dress.
