Finished our DIY BBQ sauce wedding favors!!!

We made 120 bottles of BBQ sauce today!! I'm so happy that our favors are finished! FH's favorite BBQ sauce recipe. Worked all day to get the sauce made & bottled. I printed the labels, but still have a bunch to put on.

Did you hand make the sauce? Eeek... Idk cute idea but I would be nervous for same reason as self catering: food poisoning if not made correctly....

We sterilized the bottles before filling with the sauce & used food safe glass BBQ sauce bottles. We sealed with pressure seal caps, the type you see in stores that "pop" when you twist them open and say If the seal is broken don't use. Finally we used the shrink wrap safety seal around the lid to keep it on securely. Used hot water canning methods - we are sure we won't be giving anyone food poisoning!

Also, directions "refrigerate after opening" on the back label.

These are adorable! I love BBQ, especially all the homemade ones. And the labels look professionally done.

Wow!! Great idea!! We are having BBQ and should have done this! Did you just screw the top on or did you like vacuum seal it in a canning device?

Awesome. We did my mom's recipe (she passed away so it was part of how I honored her). Everyone raved about it and several people asked if we had extra.

I went to a wedding where they gave homemade hot sauce as a favor and it was my favorite wedding favor! And one of the few that I actually even remembered.

@itsalovestory - the bottles need to be hot & so does the sauce. The cap is screwed on tightly, then you cover the sealed bottles with dish towel. They cool slowly, and as they cool the caps seal themselves. You will hear them "pop" as they cool down & know the seal is completed.

    Edit: spelling
